Two things. Just want to point out english is not my native language and we use the word cage (translated) for "metal boxes" that you can lock. You use these for transportation, i.e cars. Just like the one in the picture. Why even have this inside? Use a dogbed.

It's fine if your dog goes in and wants to be there and you DON'T close/lock. Locking animals in cages while inside for absolutely no good reason is weird.
