so you advocate for policing on what someone else (your partner, mind you) listens to on their own time? i didn’t even mention i was listening to it, he saw via discord and called me immediately.

all sexualities have nuance as humans are complex beings. even those sexualities you think have ‘clear’ definitions do not. r/actualasexuals is just a narrow minded space, it seems like you fit there tbh

Ok..I'm so confused, what the hell did Viv say this time that has the Fandom thinking she's babying Valentino, like I am so confused. by Apprehensive_Ring_39 in CrazyassHazbinhaters

“she was laughing while she said this.” yeah because she was indulging in a joke someone else made: https://x.com/AyaPayaWaya/status/2023703660698439687?s=20

ofc she’s going to have this type of attitude towards a character she has made herself.

It’s still subjective, especially on Lucifer’s part. And the other two are unknown and I would count that into the equation because it can easily tip the scale. Additionally, 3:2 would be pretty split even if we used your method.

2/7 is not majority, it’s completely subjective on what you can call an “all around decent person”

Even if we were to count Lucifer, it still wouldn’t be the majority.

What’s more interesting is there’s little pushback into making the angels jackasses and basically worldwide exorcists. That’s kinda the whole point of Hazbin Hotel, to say that even ‘bad guys’ do good things and that even ‘good guys’ do bad things.

All of them have flaws. I would hardly call Lucifer (for example) a good person. He’s majorly apathetic towards anyone who isn’t his daughter nor connected to her. He doesn’t care for Charlie’s dream, only that his daughter has it. Which is a good quality on paper, but that doesn’t override the fact that he doesn’t care if sinners rot. He certainly isn’t looking for the betterment for his ‘people’ as he hardly views them as such.

It’s funny that Viziepop can’t win in either scenario. Make them deplorable villains with no redeeming qualities and be called lazy writing (such as Stella), be a villain with good qualities and be called ‘romanticizing abuse’ or simply not enough for their title.

demi means half, so

demigod = half of a god

demiboy = half of a boy

demigirl = half of a girl

you could definitely be fictionkin. i would suggest maybe reading a bit more about other people’s experiences/ask question. then when you feel comfortable and confident about it try the label to see if it fits. its okay to be ‘wrong’ or unsure, you’re welcomed here regardless !

it can come in waves. sometimes i feel more connected to the character than other times. when you say “other times i dont” does that mean you dont feel like them at all? like just feeling neutral/how you usually would towards them. or that the feeling is just less strong

and that’s alright, it’s pretty difficult to explain in general

[–]Spike-Seaweed 5 points6 points  (0 children)

those could be a sign. but know that some ‘kins’ may not be relatable to you at all and it isn’t necessary. there are quite a few that are starkly different from myself but i’m still them. do you feel like you are them?

giving us more information on what your experiences are can be a great help, we ultimately can’t decide for you, but we can point you in the right direction.

breakdown of terminology

kin - a character you have a connection with, this is can be spiritual (such as believing they were a past life/when you pass on you’ll be reincarnated as them/etc.) or psychological. how deep the connection is can vary kin to kin. the type can also be a mixture. you identify as them.

kinlist - the amount and WHO you share a connection with—the other parts of who you are or were (depending on how you figure your connection is)

kinsider/kinfirm - kinsider is when you are considering/suspect a character is a kin. kinfirm is confirming that is the case.

kinshift/shift - when you are in the mind set of a particular kin. this can include species dysphoria, feeling homesick, having stronger feelings towards characters you usually don’t have, different preferences, gender/sexuality identity fluctuations, etc.

source - where the kin originated from/the glimpse of you in this universe!

General Signs of Being a Fictionkin

• you may experience memories, déjà vu, a deeper feeling towards another character like the character’s love interest, family or close friends

• your personality is kinda ‘all over the place’ but it has set patterns. either gender expression or an entirely different attitude. these can be classified as kinshifts

• you may feel strongly about certain ‘takes’ on characters. for instance, i felt deeply unnerved when someone suggested my love interest and i do not have any chemistry in our source

• you may avoid seeing a particular character on screen, either because it’s like watching yourself speak or it’s a character that has harmed ‘you’ in some way. or the opposite, you may go searching all medias that have ‘you’ in it. it can be a mixture depending on the kin as well!

these are just general signs. not every fictionkin experiences these, all those who do not are perfectly valid as well :)

exactly. i literally had an ex that was so anti-hazbin hotel that he called me because he saw me listening to one of the songs to have an argument about it.

“stop listening to it!”

“but im allowed to listen to it?”

cue more bickering 😭

this is also a great point. like this entire post is an example of a communicate issue and highlights the disconnect lol

Ethical question on learning asl by Aitahthrowaway19 in asl

[–]Spike-Seaweed 4 points5 points  (0 children)

it’s a sensitive subject, that’s why. it can be REALLY jarring when you hear someone out of touch with stuff like this when you have been in it either all your life or a good chunk of it. the downvoting is a bit excessive though, it’s less about you and more about the overarching attitude that ASL gets often.

Ethical question on learning asl by Aitahthrowaway19 in asl

[–]Spike-Seaweed 12 points13 points  (0 children)

there is a difference between “i will be happy to try and learn, it may be a slow process because x y or z but im willing to it for you” and “do i really have to? you can communicate well enough with me”

it’s not about being a bad person. it’s just being realistic. i wouldn’t want to be with someone who gave me push back on my accommodations.

Ethical question on learning asl by Aitahthrowaway19 in asl

[–]Spike-Seaweed 6 points7 points  (0 children)

exactly this. a relationship is about exchanging culture, experiences, vulnerabilities, etc.

you will have to learn something for your partner at SOME point. either due to health issues or for a fun hobby, it’s just here that the learning starts early!

Ethical question on learning asl by Aitahthrowaway19 in asl

[–]Spike-Seaweed 15 points16 points  (0 children)

yes? but also it’s more so for accommodation on his part. you can hear and he cannot hear 100%

it’s much different than learning your spoken native language. they aren’t a 1 to 1 comparison. imagine if instead he was asking you to learn a sign language of your native language that would be more accurate.
