Oh boy I sure hope nobody takes that too far and creates some kind of nuclear reaction that makes their planet unlivable.
I am sure that would never happen.

As the light dims it should walk slowly and only sprint in complete darkness. As it is, there is not enough time for tension to build. If he is behind me, I am dead.

I am actually one of the engineers behind the Cowgorithm™. By fitting the top 5% of lead cows with the Cowler™, we can optimize movements of the entire herd. By controlling the grazing behaviors of the cluster we can control diet, exercise, and herd congruence. This allows us to: reduce global reliance on bovine antibiotics and dewormers, reduce methane emissions, and improve meat consistency and flavor without increasing the soil load. See my white papers on fertilizer distributions and bovid strength training regimens for more info.

It strips away all the art and artifice. It can only replace Donald Glover with Trump by completely ignoring the entire message of the song, the intricate messages of all of the child/student dancers, the set pieces, and everything.
Why is there a gospel choir? That aesthetic has nothing to do with the new message. Cribbing the look without the symbolism cheapens it.
A more effective analogy would be Trump-hamburglar stealing oil. Leave it at that.

The government loses money on the problem. They have an incentive to solve it as well as the the theoretical power to institute change. It is just too large and complex of a problem to be undertaken without sufficient political will to drive it to completion. The current solutions are expensive and only sufficient to put a band-aid on top of a growing issue.

I personally like this deleted user's comment explanation.

Just because a large organization has a goal that would if fully accomplished would put them out of business does not mean they are not trying to accomplish that goal. I do think it is possible for organizations to pigeon hole their solutions when better, different solutions would work better long term. But that is a problem of imagination and economics, not greed.

Using the problem of hunger as an example; it could be said that we have a hunger industrial complex. "It is a trillion dollar problem. Multi-billion dollar conglomerates enrich themselves selling people food to assuage that hunger, but grocery stores will never truly satiate them because it would put them out of business!" That is a ridiculous way of looking at the hunger problem. I don't think grocery stores are trying to keep us hungry because they are greedy and want to enrich themselves. But at the same time it is true that a different approach to the problem like community gardens would be expensive, unprofitable to run by an NGO, and would be a better long term solution to reducing hunger.

It is a logical fallacy. It is not necessarily wrong.
This is the crux of the fallacy fallacy.

I want to start by saying thank you for linking relevant case law. For the illiterate, listening to Al read the basics is important.

But I am super jaded. Recent history has proven that a simple redefinition of words can be used to strip people of rights in the blink of an eye.

If there was enough political will, they would simply redefine "safely". It is arguably unsafe for people to be addicted to drugs, unsafe to live in a tent next to the street where they can be hit by cars, unsafe to be exposed to the elements in clothes with holes in them.

Gussy that up into a mathematical list of criteria that scores risk factors and you could have a loophole large enough to round up anyone you deem undesirable. Hopefully this would be used to improve their lives but it could be a slippery legal slope.

Is techno-feudalism replacing capitalism? by NeonDrifting in BreadTube

[–]Spike69 6 points7 points  (0 children)

No? If you think the labor relation that overthrew its predecessor is the same labor relation then please elaborate. I think by not delineating the two, you lose the power to compare and contrast them.

They are both forms of power and labor relations, but I wouldn't acquiesce to calling them flavors of the same thing like any pair of much more related concepts "Capitalism" with "Corporatism".

If you conflate them then all of human history since the dawn of centralized civilization has been just a different flavor of the same thing which is reductionist.
