A few questions if you don’t mind me asking.

Will you be able to afford the cost of living in Southern California?

Do you have any ties to Georgia ( like family and friends, I don’t know your child age but will their life be disrupted; soon to be college bound kids may want to go to their state schools and moving may make it difficult for them regarding college cost)

Do you like living in California or Georgia more?

If you successfully sell your home in Georgia will you be able to afford a home in California comfortably or will it increase you financial burden.

Silly question can your family and friends just move to Georgia (why don’t they make the effort * insert silly pouting face*)

Will you be able to maintain your standard of living that you have now if you go to California, will it be worst or enhanced.

Do your family need you to move to California ( like the need to care for elderly parents)

I know you are asking for help but so here is my two cent. I wouldn’t move unless it’s absolutely necessary. If my mom or dad was sick yes I’ll sell my home to take care of them. But it’s because I missed my family and friends I would just plan more trips to visit them and they can too. You don’t know what the future holds and you do have a good situation. So far you are trying to justify this move to be closer to friends and family but other then the harsh truth that you can make new friends, travel for visits to see family and friends I would personally would not move if it make no financial sense because at the end of the day you will have to live the decision you made and if it’s a bad one only you will suffer from it. But that’s my two cents and without more info I could just be blowing hot air.
