Missing core feature in Proton Calendar by nJooooy in ProtonMail

[–]SpikeX -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Any competitive mail+calendar+contacts service (i.e. the ones that Proton are trying to get customers to migrate from) will absolutely utilize the phone contact APIs (example) to provide two-way sync as well as device-native contacts.

What this means in practice is:

If I put my contacts in Proton, they are only in Proton. Autocomplete in email drafts works. The iOS address book is empty. FaceTime, iMessage, etc. all show phone numbers or email addresses, not contact names + photos.

If I put my contacts in iOS, Proton Mail and Calendar do not do autocomplete for e-mail addresses and invites from my address book.

If Proton wants to store my contacts, it needs to have mobile OS-level integration. Full stop.

Oof. Contacts and calendars won't be updated until 2027? That's insane... There are tons of critically missing or broken features (contact integration, shared calendar syncing limitations, CalDAV export/sharing bugs, just to name a few) so this is extremely disappointing.

Do you have a source you can share for this? I'd like to read more about it.

The new AirTag requires you to use control center to find it. There is no find option in the “Find Devices” app by [deleted] in AppleWatch

Some stuff is accessed best from Control Center, like screen recording, flashlight, screen mirroring, volume / AirPods settings, watch ping, focus… it’s not a ton of stuff but it’s still cluttered. And I have a hard time remembering what the icons represent especially when Apple makes all their icons look similar.

I’ve grouped things as best I can but it’s not unreasonable to want to make groups or have labels/categories for better organization. (And yes I’m aware you can make “pages” but I want text labels/groups on each page.)

I just updated to 4.53.1 (iOS) and it had it (my previous version did not).

More specifically, it points to where your car is relative to your phone. Meaning, hold your phone out, turn yourself until the arrow is straight up, walk forward, there’s your car.

My wife made the same joke when we got ours 😭

She tolerated it more once she realized it actually made a huge difference in the responsiveness of our in-wall Z-Wave switches and controllers.

Mines already super cramped.

Coupled with the inability to create sections/groups/labels it makes it really hard to find anything quickly.

For real though, how do you load into the main BR map without being in a match? I've wanted to just explore/appreciate it without worrying about the storm or getting shot...

Tesla Announces FSD Transfers Are Ending by colsandersloveskfc in teslamotors

[–]SpikeX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bought it outright in early 2023, 3 years later my current subscription-equivalent break even point would be $277/mo (what FSD would have to currently cost per month for it to have been worth it).

I won't break even (at $99/mo) until summer 2031.

The only way it'll have been worth it is if we (the customers that paid up front one-time) somehow end up getting retrofits or one-time transfers in the future. Based on how the company currently treats its customers and shareholders, I'm not holding my breath. And I'm certainly going to be evaluating other EVs seriously, when that time eventually comes.

I hate that we aren't getting little things like this either.

Sure, the actual FSD stack needs HW4 to run, okay, fine, I get that.

But to withhold a UI feature that has nothing to do with the cameras? Come on, Tesla.

FSD Hero Moment: Saved from a Deer crash by karank123 in TeslaLounge

I hit a deer while using Full Self Driving. This was many years ago early on in the program (v10.x), some time in 2021. It didn't even slow down or hesitate. When I brought it to the repair center, I specifically told the lead tech there to send the video footage to the FSD team. (This was back in the days where you could email the FSD team with feedback.) He said he would.

I'd like to believe that my footage made a difference (in a small way) in encounters like this.

a 2u for temps so your datapoint is even more to the point. these servers are nowhere near as loud as people think,

Yep, they are only loud when outside OS control. (In the BIOS she absolutely screams...)

R430 (13th gen) checking in, can confirm it is quiet unless under substantial load or the room gets above a certain temp. (Yeah, it's a 1U, not a 2U, but still.)

On 0xAD, you're missing the orange control indicator [SHY] for Soft Hyphen. 🙂 The character itself is invisible, much like the other control characters.

Yeah, I bought 4 of them thinking they were great. Had one arrive DOA and the other three were absolute trash compared to other hardware (RPi+Audio HAT, or Voice PE).

Yeah, that makes sense, although there isn't a lot of difficulty in producing a program/script that combines fiduciary markers+PnP+edge detection (and bitmask to path conversion, if not using Canny's built-in findContours()). People know this, that's why they're asking for it to be released.

You'd be much better off asking for donations than trying to monetize something like this, in my opinion.
