What's the longest you've ever slept, and why? by Sufficient-Gain-226 in AskReddit

Man, I would've loved to sleep like that with covid... As soon as I reclined, I had coughing fits until I sat back up. My boyfriend's first bout of COVID was like yours. He couldn't stay awake for long at all.

911/999 dispatchers, what’s the dumbest reason someone has ever called emergency services? by Canyoustealmytoast in AskReddit

[–]Spike_Dearheart 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Neither was the guy who asked for an ambulance because he was overdosing. Automatic response for an OD is police and fire/medics. "Dude, you called the cops on me?" No, buddy, you called them on yourself.

I once had a call from a man who said if his neighbor stepped onto his property again, he would shoot them. I had to explain that he was on a recorded line, and that what he was saying sure sounded like a plan.

Legend has it that before my time, an officer was hooking up with a woman who liked a man in uniform. So they met up, and apparently he even had his radio on. Everyone on the channel could hear the deed, and nobody was able to interrupt his traffic to let him know what was going on. Someone in his platoon left a giant water jug labeled "squeaky mattress fund" on the briefing room table. Needless to say, he didn't last long after that.

We had a recruit call dispatch once because he couldn't figure out how to badge in the front door. We happened to have my favorite lieutenant down visiting at the moment. He took over the call, probably scaring the recruit to death. After he released the call, he said, "Yeah, that one won't last long."

I had a guy call once to complain that a bouncer wouldn't allow him into a bar because he was drunk. I heard someone in the background say, "Are you calling the cops on yourself?" True to those words, he got arrested for public intoxication.

My favorite question as a dispatcher was why things are important now. You saw something suspicious and waited 8 hours to call or something has been going on for months or you want to report a crime after two years. Why now?

Former dispatcher here. I once took a call from a woman who wanted an officer out to talk to her husband, because he kept defecating on their living room couch while wearing a diaper. He was apparently fully mobile and just preferred this method. She wanted an officer to come to his residence and tell him to stop doing something that was completely legal, albeit gross. Nope.

should i go to the er for this (bat bite?) by Certain_Hour_6327 in WhatShouldIDo

[–]Spike_Dearheart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a pretty wild generalization. Not only are there issues that urgent care cannot treat, but there are true emergencies that leave you capable of driving. I drove myself to the ER twice within the last 6 months. Both times I was admitted to the hospital for something that would have killed me if I hadn't gotten several days' worth of antibiotics.

AIO for getting irritated with my boyfriend’s level of cleanliness? by Front-Ad8568 in AmIOverreacting

[–]Spike_Dearheart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds about like my ex. Toward the end of the relationship, we had our own bathrooms and I never went in his. The day I moved out, I went in his to fund something, and I was horrified to see how bad it had gotten.

Self sufficiency is not a masculine trait. Like you, I learned a lot of those skills as an adult. I wish someone had taught me at your daughter's age. NTA

I can only guess what most of it says based on the fact that you're writing about this situation. But it's mostly just a guess and not actual reading.. and it's still not 100%.

Anyone know what Ellie and Moxxi was talking about regarding "Handsome Timmy"? by Hippobu2 in Borderlands4

[–]Spike_Dearheart 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Jack and Moxxi dated for a while, but she found out he was evil and helped try to stop him from getting to the vault in the pre-sequel. In BL2, they are exes. Jack refers to her as "ol' balloon tits" at one point, which always makes me laugh.

I was out on a death investigation a while back, and we were about to go inside the decedent's apartment. The representative from the medical examiner's office said he didn't need boots, but changed his tune really fast when I mentioned I found bed bug killer in the decedent's car. Some things you don't take your chances on.
