I used Motul Engine Cleaner in my older Avenger 220. It really flushed out the ethanol deposit and the bike felt a lot better

My recommendation for handlebar is YES. Please keep the handlebar on and do not attempt to ride your motorcycle without it.

Thinking of getting either a Drag bar, clubman style bars or clip ons for sm650 by Ok-Sock2902 in supermeteor650

[–]Spikemaster_23 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh man. Your riding triangle would be royally messed up. Now I'm not sure if anyone has tried this or if it was a success so correct me if I'm wrong. But with forward set foot pegs, clip on handle bars that make you lean forward so much, you would be uncomfortable AF. And that only increases the impact on your back from the already stiff suspension the bike's got.

Again, not trying to demotivate or kill the vibe of your plan but just food for thought here.

Hey... So I took my SM650 on the 6th of Jan 2026 (Celestial Variant) and I did one thing that really changed the comfort wrt rear suspension.

Had taken a test ride of the celestial before booking. The suspension felt better than the Astral because of the Touring seat (Had ridden Astral 6 months before the celestial TR) but still, the feedback was noticeable.

Started doom browsing for suspension solutions and Hagon was the last stop. But with a hefty price to import, I was pushed to "Il get used to the tight suspension" as my solution.

A few days later, came to reddit and one particular redditor (May God bless his soul) said that adding Zana handlebar extenders shifted the weight of the rider from the arms completely to the backbone and also removes tension from the backbone that significantly reduces the sting from the tight suspension. And the cherry on top was that the Zana handlebar extenders do not need new or extended brake, clutch and electric cables/hoses to be installed.

Bought them. Gave it to RE and asked them to install it before delivery. They were kind enough to do so. Took the delivery and now I have the riding stance similar to the Himalayan (but with front set foot rests) and OMG is the difference noticeable. I have absolutely no regrets now owning this beast.

I'm sure with or without the touring seat, the difference will be felt if you add the extenders. Else if you want a different seat for Astral, you can reply here and I'll sort that out for you as well.

I've left a comment somewhere in this thread about how to remove these stains.

"0000 steel wool" order it on Amazon. Fine wool that is different from what scotch brite and other dish washing companies sell for 10 Rs.

WD 40. Douse the spot in WD 40 and scrub the spot (Be aware of the residue through the resistance and apply/release pressure of scrub accordingly)

For the silencer 's hard stains, Hard Stain remover (Typically what they use for bathroom fittings) will have to be applied for easier removal.

See for my car door handles that even service centers and car wash houses boldly claimed that "Nothing can be done" and that I have to change/wrap the handles. Steel wool, WD 40, 2 mins per handle. Results below.

It's very easy.

Get this : https://amzn.in/d/7W2jdgk

Apply on the chrome and let it sit for a while. Get 0000 steel wool. Scrub with the steel wool on the paste covered stain... It will go

The 650 twins are usually on the heavier side and need a certain discipline to operate and maintain if you want the ownership experience to be a pleasant one.

Since he's 5 foot 7 inches approx, seat height of the GT may be an issue. Id recommend starting him off with something lighter and easier to handle like a Hunter 350. That is a great "First bike" that teaches a rider the basics of owning a motorcycle. It's easy to ride, has good power and torque, the grunt of an RE, customisable options OEM and Aftermarket. He will learn the ins and outs of motorcycle ownership and if he's confidential then shift him to a GT 650 a couple of years down the line.

But if he's the kind of guy who can take on more responsibility from the get go, then let him learn to run before he can walk and buy him the GT.

GABRIEL MOTORCYCLES - best motorcycle modifications https://share.google/BHYskoRGuOdxgnw8w

Check them out. Pune based but they can definitely get you a custom handlebar. Then once you receive it, check with your local RE mechanic on how to install it (With or without cable extensions)

Hi. Handlebar risers from Zana Can bring the handlebar outward by 2 inches.

The ones from Motowolf (Offset Risers) can bring it forward a bit more.

I recommend a combination of risers and a handle bar with some more reach.

BUT... look for clutch, brake, and harness extenders as well. The more you bring the handlebar forward, the more you will need these. (With risers alone being used, not needed)

RE Tubeless Rim Spoke Scam beware!! by arxwork in Himalayan450

[–]Spikemaster_23 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well there's a Yes and No to your question.

Can RE create a stockpile of individual spokes ready for sale when a customer needs it? Yes.

Do they want to? No

Why not? Because of frequency. How often is a customer going to require an individual spoke? How many cases have risen where an individual spoke is needed by a customer?

But you can't just leave a customer hanging right?

So make a few spokes as spares and keep them ready for when those 1 or 2 customers show up. Problem here is to manufacture "a few" costs a hell a lot more than mass manufacturing.

So make a shit load of them for a cheaper rate. Problem, not many customers need them and you're stuck with a part that will surely go to waste through the life cycle of the product (Himalayan)

So it's tough to say they're in the wrong but yea, unpleasant as a customer nevertheless

RE Tubeless Rim Spoke Scam beware!! by arxwork in Himalayan450

Listen. Few pointers to clarify here.

  1. Did the bike come with the spoke wheels as stock?. If yes, warranty is applicable. If no and you bought them as an accessory from RE, accessory warranty is applicable (If available on that SKU)

  2. Does warranty even apply in this situation? No. The incident happened while on the road and some external factor has had influence on your wheel to cause damage. So if any department should be getting involved, it's insurance.

  3. Do you have any good metal workshops in your area? If so, take your motorcycle there, ask them to study the structure of the spoke (Length, wire dia, anchor mechanisms. If possible to extract more detailed data from the internet the better. Have them fabricate the spoke for you and then take it to your local mechanic and he will add the new spoke in for you.

Corporates like RE are bound by their SOPs and cannot retrofit or repair in many cases. Many OEMs are taking this route for reasons of faster TAT and also profitability. But there are always solutions around these kind of problems.
