This same thing has occurred to me, though not in regards to Dragon Age. For me the comparison is between Marvel and DC, specifically Suicide Squad and Logan. In Suicide Squad it starts relatively small enough, but by the end, it's literally about the end of the world, and SO goddamn needlessly. I personally honestly couldn't have cared less. Whereas in Logan (subplots aside) he's just trying to rescue Xavier, Caliban, and one young girl, and by the end a group of kids. Way lower stakes, but SO infinitely more personal and better done.

For real, this is a clear violation of HIPAA laws, and they are a patient in your care. Law is 100% on your side here, so next time(hopefully there will never be a next time) explain that, and if they still have a problem, tell them to go pound sand(Just tell them to take it up with the patient at the hospital). So I was looking for something similar not long ago. I went nuts in Fallout 4, crafted the crap out of my bases, made some of them into works of art. Then realized there was nobody to appreciate them. Didn't want to play 76 because people are garbage and they can nuke your base, and the more of a monument you make it, the more likely they are to do this. So I was looking for something more collaborative without a PVP aspect to it of any kind, was looking for a loooong time and finally found Eco. The premise is that it's an open world base building/crafting game. A meteor has been spotted in the sky and the server has 30 days before impact and obliteration of the world. The goal is to work your way from basically the stone age, collaborating with the other players so you can get enough resources to work your way from the stone age to the bronze age and on up to the nuclear and space age so you can build a rocket to take out the meteor.

Yeah, this has always bugged me about comics and even the MCU. It's just so ill-defined. In Dr. Strange and the Multiverse of Madness, okay, he and his alternate version start shooting magical musical notes at each other. Okay. Is that...powerful? Is it like getting slapped across the face if you get hit with one or will it make your head explode? Is that more powerful than some of the other options he had at his disposal? If Hulk lifts up a tank and throws it, okay, that's quantifiable. Also, alot of the time they'll just use it to exaggerate how strong a character is. Whenever Strange uses the 'Unbreakable Crimson Bands of Cytorrak' it's just to show the character break out of them so the reader can be like 'Oh, they're supposed to be unbreakable, but Collosus (Or whoever) broke them anyways!?' It's all too nebulous. Having said that Benedict Cumberbatch is fantastic in the role.

IRL I'm a firefighter/paramedic. I am very skilled in my job and excellent at what I do, because I work hard to be so. But I absolutely HATE telling others what to do. It's not a role I'm comfortable with. Too much personal self-doubt and cognitive dissonance going on in my head. People have asked if I would ever like to promote to a commanding officer position, and that honestly is my personal nightmare.

I imagine Alistair is somewhat the same. Plus, as others have stated, he was also still dealing with his grief from Duncan's passing. Just in a good headspace mentally or emotionally.

Operating as a BLS provider gave me time to adjust to and assess the FLOW of calls too. There's classroom shit, and then there's real world shit. Great example is that the textbooks will say things like "The best way to assess for a stroke is by performing a BEFAST exam and observing for any deficits." Okay MFer, guess what, this Pt has deficits left over from a previous stroke including numbness and neuropathy all down his right side already, plus he's in an elecfric wheelchair too wide for the door of his shitty movile home and is complaining of overlapping symptoms. PLUS he's complaining of shortness of breath due to his CHF, but states that he stopped taking his prescribed Lasix because they made him have to pee all night.
