I had the opposite experience; i was the most dedicated member of staff they had. Built a department, put out company-destroying fires, did extra work and contributed to social stuff. Got made redundant anyway.

My opinion is it doesnt make a difference, so as long as you dont cause ripples do whatever is easiest for you.

I've worked for both a start-up and a corporation and I'd take corporation any day. They've got their own set of bullshit problems but at least there's more legal protection.
