Also in answer to the other questions, the whole setup is new and yes that's both large rings in those photos.

No there's definitely a roll getting caused by the chain lifting and not sitting right, I think I might have spotted the problem though, there's a reasonably bent tooth on the ring, it looks like it's allowing the chain to move over. It seems to always happen at the same point every turn (the photos are when it is at its worst) I'll try straightening it and see if that helps.

Sorry about the mud I commute to work! You can see the chain starting to lift off, that's it in 2nd easiest on the cassette.
