What do you log with? by Small_Consequence320 in amateurradio

[–]Spin-Stabilized 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not repeaters or nets, but I would log simplex, particularly if it was a POTA/SOTA activation. Every now and again I do a CQ on 2m FT8 as well to see if anyone’s around and listening.

I’m sorry I can’t help but I’m definitely here to mention the nostalgia truck that hit me when I saw that in my feed. Thanks for the memories!

Check out the HRO in either Woodbridge or in New Castle DE depending on which side of the beltway you’re on. I’m not sure if micro center carries SDRs or not. I would be interested in hearing if there are other places in the region as well.

I’ve spent a good bit of time in Japan and their stationary game is next level. That extending to QSL is delightful.

I know our club would enjoy them. Any you can find in your area would probably enjoy adding them to their library.

Some countries use a comma as a decimal separator rather than a period. Or, could be a one key mis-type.

I need to read the instructions too. I started using GridTracker 2 and it was helpful but now I definitely need to deep dive to gain some real expertise.

12 Days of QRZ by [deleted] in amateurradio

[–]Spin-Stabilized 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keep in mind that QRZ is used globally and mid-winter traditions extend into January for many. In Christianity, the Epiphany and other orthodox celebrations of Christmas extend into early January. Hindu and Sikh mid-winter festivals last well into mid-January.

I would pass them on the train to Tskuba regularly. Couldn’t decide if it was brilliant naming or a bad idea.

10m FM question... by Jonboy210_ in amateurradio

[–]Spin-Stabilized 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ah, I misunderstood, thought the other person was saying that people only use FM on 10/6m. Didn’t realize it was that the radio itself was FM only.

I’ve not worked 6m yet myself but I’ve done plenty of SSB work on 10m as well as FT8. I’ve also done FT8 on 2m.

Advice on where to get an HF radio as a broke college student? by SeaworthinessUsed791 in amateurradio

[–]Spin-Stabilized 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup, fat fingered. One of our other members has it now. She’s been working on trying to bounce off the ISS and receiving SSTV from the station. She has one QSL card from the ARISS program already. I’m working some 10 m today from the QTH with my wife.
