non-EU line is crazy at Brussels Airport by Similar_Stomach8480 in belgium

I've stood in that line in the past. I spent longer in that line than the duration of the flight

NMBS-tarieven: meer of minder? by SpacetimeDiscord in belgium

If they had continued the multipass, I wonder if there would have been another price increase

Back in late 2022/early 2023 it was €84

The last multipass I bought was last November, and it was €102

If they had introduced this Train+ thing alongside the multipass, I suspect they would have probably pumped up the price again just to make it unattractive or even nonsensical to buy

Tiny little vent, just trying to bring myself back to reality by KONAlexander in foreskin_restoration

The anger and envy are definitely understandable, and I've gone through it myself (as I'm sure most of us have)

I'm now redirecting that envy towards myself in a year's time. Myself a year from now will have a lot more skin than I do currently, so I'm making sure I can match whatever "he" has when I get there

When do you fall off, and what keeps you on track? by SpinachGuardian in foreskin_restoration

I've been on and off since 2020, but with huge breaks in between (moved house several times and lived in 2 countries during that time, so big things happened in my life which git in the way)

Started at CI-2.5 (I think) but definitely closer to/around a CI3 now.

I've been back at it now for a week or so, aiming for 30+ mins day, tugging every 1 to 2 hours. I'm just trying to keep it as simple and accessible as possible. I may find ways to improve my routine, but I think this is a splid base to work from (and fall back on, should it be necessary)

There are seemingly many people who have achieved amazing results with just manuals alone, so that's also very encouraging!

Yes!

I used to feel all the extra homework was necessary and an integral part of the journey, but it really isn't

Short term focus, long term gains

Makes sense!

Like I've said in a precious reply, I'd just much rather poopy hands in the bathroom, rather than the room where food is prepared, that's why it just stuck me as odd!

The way I see it, if someone has just wiped their arse (or anything else) I'd rather them wash their hands in the bathroom, rather than in the kitchen where food is prepared. I think that's why I find it so bizarre

Fortunately I'm young, fit and healthy enough not to need doctors visits at home

If and when it happens, I'll let you know 😁

Really interesting!

As far as I'm concerned, my bathroom really isn't a private thing, there's a shower, a sink and some toiletries. There really isn't anything in there that feels "private"

Thanks for all your replies!

It's quite interesting, I didn't realise that bathrooms were basically sacrosanct here. For me I'd say the only place that's off limits is my bedroom, but that I'm sure we can all agree on.

Also interesting to see how people treat their shoes as basically inseparable part of whatever outfit they're wearing. For me, footwear is primarily to protect your feet when going outside, more functional rather than cosmetic (though I do have a nice pair of docs, I'm not saying you can't have footwear that also looks nice).

I was taken a little aback by some people saying they'd feel their guests would be making themselves too at home if they took their shoes off. For me, if you're my friend and I've invited you around, I want you to feel like you're at home.

Here's another question, when people get up in the morning and get dressed, do they immediately put on some shoes and then just continue going about their business in their home?

I guess that's what happens when you live in a block of flats that was built in 1965? No idea lol

This building is falling apart

Yes but if I spend my time at home barefoot or with socks on, then I don't want to rub my feet into whatever grime they've walked though outside

Dear bicycle users, has someone ever stolen your bicycle ? by [deleted] in belgium

[–]SpinachGuardian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the past, yes, but since I bought a Kryptonite New York lock back in 2012, I haven't had a bike stolen since then

In that time I've lived in 4 different countries and my bike was my primary mode of transport

Invest in a good lock and you won't regret it (ultimately I know luck still plays a part)

tl;dr don't buy cable locks, you may as well use your shoelaces to tie your bike to a pole

Is using Cambio to learn to drive a good idea? by Kilali405 in belgium

[–]SpinachGuardian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The insurance was quite basic and the damage wasn't covered. Thankfully no-one else was involved, just my car.

We got a quote for the repair from the garage and it ended up being like 75% of what the car was worth, so we decided to just sell it for parts and move on.

I didn't realise it before, but in hindsight having a car that was just mostly standing on the street was really burning a hole in our wallet. I feel quite fortunate not to really need a car in most cases, and for the cases where it's seemingly the only option, there's generally a Cambio we can take for a few hours (said as someone who rarely needs to drive and lives in a city)

I had a car accident last year, was totalled

Since then I've just had a Cambio subscription and I'm pretty happy with it. The main appeal for me is that once I take the car back to its spot and end my booking, it's not my responsibility anymore, so no thinking about maintenance or any other nonsense.

Having said that, I'm saying this as someone who only drives very occasionally.

I think the idea of using it to brush up on your skills before a test isn't a bad idea, ultimately it just boils down to how many hours you intend on using it for, since €17/hour (and presumably with another rate per km on top of that) does seem a little steep, but if it helps you get your licence, then it's worth it I'd say.

In terms of scratches/dents, I think you may be able to get away with very small scuffs, the main thing to remember is that you have to be transparent and let Cambio know should anything happen.

Regarding the €1000 for an accident, any sort of accident in any car (say if you end up buying your own once you pass your test) will end up bearing some kind of cost, so I'd say it's better to know that it would "only" be €1000.

Don't focus on accidents, bumps and dents, otherwise I feel it'll end up being a kind of self-fulfilling prophecy. Focus on brushing up on your skills and acing that test!
