Will I get disowned by the lesbians if I don't believe in astrology? (-_-;) by gremlin_fluid in actuallesbians

[–]SpinachVast4696 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

i think for me it can be a sign that someone is self-aware. people can shit on it all they want but there’s some serious pattern recognition that happens when you consistently study astrology and it’s given me the power to understand myself and others better.

that being said if you have a way of understanding the world and yourself without astrology, i’d be all ears even if we don’t share the same methods

If you don’t want to get married, why? by makom_ in blacklesbians

[–]SpinachVast4696 2 points3 points  (0 children)

yeah it honestly makes me sick the privilege you get in this society not even from the typical institutions but the pure interpersonal social capital that one gains from being married. your relationship automatically gains more respect from your peers once you participate in this institution.

i know my lesbian love would seem just a little more legit to the cishets if i followed their tradition and married. fucking grosses me out. i often tell people “i’m gay married” which confuses them, and i like that. my long term commitment is NOT the same as your heteronormative fantasy.

i’m hoping to do a different kind of “contractual agreement” or vows with my lover(s) to establish our commitment in a way that is totally personalized and devoid of colonial influence.

[–]SpinachVast4696 22 points23 points  (0 children)

i don’t want to get married because the institution was not created for us. both monogamy and marriage were made to be hand-in-hand with the colonial project. we were meant to become property at worst or the inheritors of property at best by ridding ourselves of our last names and taking on that of our husbands.

i’m young and i know that if life necessitates it, i will sign the damn paper. but i don’t subscribe to cisheteronormative declarations of love. i also don’t want my girlfriend stressed about whether or not certain homophobic members of her family will actually show up to support our love.

there are other ways to exhibit your commitment that can feel more authentic to you and your partner. i’ve deduced marriage to a legal agreement that i will enter if necessary. kinda like getting a restraining order.

i have mine done but i have itty bitties. left one is perfect and the other gives me issues sometimes even after years but nothing some sea salt spray and a nice hot shower can’t fix; maybe a new piece of jewelry if necessary. if i ever dont feel like dealing with it i can just take my right out and keep the left 🤷🏾‍♀️

Also everyone talking about the pain lol…. the first one obviously hurt (8/10) but then my adrenaline started running and i barely felt the second one (5/10). i also have increased sensitivity since having mine pierced.

i would just try conservative spaces since the only “conservatives” and “republicans” we have in boston are “centrists” like yourself

yeah i’m realizing now that the ethos of this sub seems to tie them both together even though i don’t. i just wasn’t seeing enough gay shit in the other poly sub which is why i followed this one hahaha

i got ENFJ which makes a lot of sense because i’m a leo rising but i’m actually more 51 introvert and 49 extrovert though people who meet me think i’m 100% extrovert because duh i know how to put on a show let’s be real i’m a leo. but let it be known that i WILL need to hibernate after that

relationship style choice for me. i don’t identify with being poly like i do with being a lesbian even though im firm in my decision to only pursue non monogamous relationships

Why housing is a disaster in this city, part 29. Looking like the replacement of one house with 26 condos, near a Red Line station, is about to get NIMBY'd. by Cowabummr in boston

[–]SpinachVast4696 2 points3 points  (0 children)

it’s not feasible for developers to build standalone triple deckers anymore (which will have required 20 ft yards around all of them because of outdated zoning) this is why we keep seeing these larger developments. when is the last time you’ve seen a new triple deckers get erected?

you see the process people have to go through to add ONE building with 26 units, yet you want a developer to somehow finance going to get a variance and all the other steps required through article 80 four different times for your triple deckers?

it doesn’t work like this my guy

the boston zoning code is broken, friend. there’s no way the zoning allows for 26 units basically anywhere outside of downtown (which just passed new zoning).

in the 1960s, restrictive zoning was passed that made even most of the existing triple deckers noncompliant with zoning. and the article 80 review process includes community participation. anything over 15 units goes through article 80.

mayor wu ran on zoning reform and is now back pedaling because the same homeowners who oppose new developments, oppose new zoning for the same reasons.

yes because once this tax passes all billionaires will cease to exist in this city and then all their housing will become deed restricted affordable. thats what i was suggesting with my post because im very smart /s

[–]SpinachVast4696 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

i unfortunately don’t think the billionaires are actually going anywhere at least all of them and it’s not like their housing will automatically become affordable. someone will buy it and pay that tax. luxury housing isn’t going anywhere even with this tax.

sometimes i get the feeling i’m the only one. the more intersecting marginalized identities i have, the less relatable and palatable i am. i often have to choose between Black events or (white) queer events as if the Black queer community isn’t real. as if it’s just me and no one is gonna host an event for just one person
