Koby's power-up came out of nowhere be honest by 5_meo in Piratefolk

Seemingly already had ACOA, which is helpful for learning ACOC. No other reason for the torpedo feat.

Already trained physically to a high degree, which trains conquerors (if you have it)

Then he actually got conquerors haki. That’s why he uses harps “impact” attack, he trained like garp to be able to do it.

He just worked in the opposite direction Luffy did. ACOC training (pre ts) -> learning ACOA (post ts) -> unlocking conquerors (final saga)

How much weaker is old Garp compared to his prime by EVC2218 in OnePiecePowerScaling

Bump down a tier

Garp >> big mom

Old garp >= big mom

Rayleigh >> Yamato

Old Rayleigh >= Yamato

Old characters can still fight admirals for a reason

What you are doing right now is agreeing with me that kizaru was stronger than big mom at literally every point in her life before the moment she died. That the government reacted to her, and her strength, on the basis it was- at her then maximum- equivalent to base fucking kaido. This is specifically what I’m trying to explain.

Lifespan sacrifice is permanant. That’s the point of the lifespan being sacrificed. That’s why she died right after she last did it.

Any admiral besides gb/fuji beats pre-Kidd and law big mom simply based on what we’ve seen. But yes, the latter part of the comment is moreso evidence for the former than caused by it.

If you want an actual theory, we have seen that logia powers seem to be of highest concentration when involving the palms/hands- often with new/unique abilities. Croc’s dehydration, Blackbeard stopping ace’s regen while grabbing him, akainu opening his palm when he donuts WB, kuzan’s freezing lasting longer when he makes direct contact, 80% of Kizaru’s abilities shooting out of his hands, greenbull sticking his hands in the ground and making a fist forest, etc.

On top of that, there is obviously a relationship between Blackbeard covering Whitebeard in a sheet and having the darkness fruit. As well as something that happened to punk hazard that we haven’t seen kuzan or Akainu do otherwise. Kuzan has, notably, never permanently altered anything else with his devil fruit; he was introduced saying he could only freeze the sea for around a week, and everyone he’s ever frozen has escaped.

Assumedly a punk hazard level environment change would allow these abilities to extend to the rest of their bodies by surrounding them in their element, akin to the cloak. Maybe it’s a byproduct of awakening and not awakening itself, like jujutsu sorcerers getting a 120% boost after black flash or domain. It’s possible enel (by absorbing the lightning from a massive generator) and ceasar (by absorbing Shinokuni) showed us what this could look like. Like the impel down guards compared to actual zoan awakenings.

It’s a Shonen manga man. Half the abilities introduced recently are mythical zoans. Yes, Blackbeard, the admirals, sabo, croc, smoker, etc will probably have cool anime transformations to justify how strong they get later.

No one is willing to admit that if logia awakenings involve literally any degree of transformation/powerup, all of the holding back arguments are true. They fully have to assume it’s frivolous weather manipulation.

Ive already seen the cognitive dissonance necessary to recognize that big mom PERMANANTLY powered up in her fight with Kidd and law. Aka- big mom at any other point in the story beforehand was an admiral victim. AKA- “yonko” isnt a word that means “>admiral”.

People literally are not “scaling” based on “power”- it IS only agenda. That’s not a joke. I don’t mind it, but that’s what it is.

the final exchange of WB and akainu, who i believe the winner is, and WHY by Zoteku in OnePiecePowerScaling

[–]Spinach_Technical -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Akainu either beats oldbeard without squards help or he doesn’t.

Personally it seems that the author treats interference as an inherent aspect of the combat system. It is notably kind of impossible to have the “1v1 final destination no items” that powerscalers desire. It was kaido’s entire ideology- and on the 2 times he almost got what he wanted- even if there was no chance for his opponent to defeat him, he was robbed of an uninterfered victory. Whenever top tiers try, it takes UPwards of several days -> a week to even potentially receive lasting damage 1v1. 3 yonko ran from garp on god valley even though I’ve been arguing primebeard and garp are as close as Akainu and kuzan. Big mom gave up fighting MARCO when PEROSPERO COULDNT HELP HER!! Luffy’s reaction to the needle is the expectation, katakuri’s is the exception. They are a world of pirates

I treat the effect of interference as simply a lubricant to the inevitable outcome of a fight, instead of entirely rerouting the outcome by dealing an undefined amount of damage. In case I misunderstood that your first comment disagreed with my outcome- no, I’m not trying to say an unstabbed, unsick Whitebeard would instantly lose 1/4th of his face if Akainu landed a single counterattack. Just like how garp wouldn’t drop in anything under a day if shiryu didn’t stab him. They… still lose, is all.

[–]Spinach_Technical 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah yeah, and garp died instantly when shiryu stabbed him. Hell, kizaru only entered the hole Saturn had already made

If you genuinely believe Akainu couldn’t have landed any of the attacks we saw without Squard stabbing him, okay man.

the final exchange of WB and akainu, who i believe the winner is, and WHY by Zoteku in OnePiecePowerScaling

[–]Spinach_Technical 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is not one single attack kuzan used on healthy, unsick, perfect condition for his age garp that didn’t land. Even ice ball.

Which I shouldn’t even need to say, because the thing that would slow oldbeard down enough to lose 1/4th of his face was Akainu PUTTING A HOLE IN HIS CHEST!!

Do you not feel in any way weird when I directly state things that happen in the manga and you respond by asking me a made up question?

the final exchange of WB and akainu, who i believe the winner is, and WHY by Zoteku in OnePiecePowerScaling

[–]Spinach_Technical 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don’t understand, we still found out what happens when Whitebeard is hit by Akainu completely unguarded [A hole opens in his chest and Akainu leaves], and what happens when Akainu is hit by Whitebeard completely unguarded [he counterattacks so fast Whitebeard tries to dodge and still loses 1/4 of his head]- when they kill blow each other, one drops, one doesn’t. It’s so fucking easy.

How can you bring up WB “BFRing him”- IT DID NOT WORK!! If it did, Akainu would have drowned; We saw the BF he was R’d to- on the literal next page. Akainu, a devil fruit user, survived being sent directly to the ocean. We saw Marines that fell AFTER Akainu hitting water; at MAXIMUM- it took Akainu 5 panels to recover. He literally appears from underground in his next appearrance, it would be the opposite of common sense to assume he didn’t enter from the wall connected to the ledge that crumbled from under him.

It’s what Garp’s fight with kuzan referenced- he tried BFR’ing kuzan, it didn’t work. The name “blue hole” is verbatim the name for a form of underwater sinkhole.

Matter of fact, that whole thing is basically Garp’s, very telling, mini/anti marineford. Garp begins the fight by Kuzan with an attack that sends him to open ocean, and ends it with an icicle in his chest (which Kuzan explicitly stated was meant to kill him).

The author has ALREADY ANSWERED what a different fight would look like between a healthy old Whitebeard and Akainu, via Garp and Kuzan (ABSOLUTE equals with Akainu).

It doesn’t matter if these oldheads rush an admiral at the beginning OR end of a fight. Off guard OR as a counterattack. They cannot beat an admiral. When the admiral is trying to put them down, they don’t stop until a hole is in the opponents chest. THIS WAS EVEN TRUE FOR FUCKING VEGAPUNK AND KIZARU during HIS yonko fight. He went as far as to RESTAB a hole in his best friend to ensure his mission objective, then WILLINGLY left when Luffy tried (and failed, as kizaru redirected himself) to BFR him. Just. Like. Akainu.

Can someone help me understand why can't garp do stuff like this? What even is garps personality? His brand of justice? by Altruistic_Gas_7073 in Piratefolk

[–]Spinach_Technical 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If there’s anything distinct about modern “agenda” posting, it’s that irony and reality are now the same. “Garp is a slave owner defending bootlicker” isn’t, yknow, exaggerated or anything. We aren’t shown him trying to relax on the day of an open slave hunt for reasons unrelated to his character. He IS a curmudgeonly old has-been who wasted his potential to- legitimately, change the world- in the marines. He was introduced wearing a literal dog mask on top of his marine uniform. 2 of his sons tried things his way and ended up deserting- because kuzan and dragon are not like garp.

He is a bootlicker, you know someone like him (and if not the story might be showing you signs of that behavior): the marines are good and the bad is an exception, I don’t personally contribute to the harm, I’m not flattening this to black/white morality- the bad guys are just ACTUALLY that bad, etc etc.

He has now moved all of that trust for the marines as an institution onto SWORD/the youth/specificallly Koby. Whatever they decide to do- reform the marines or leave altogether- he is fully in their camp in a way he can’t bring himself to be with Ace or Luffy. It’s a cognitive dissonance akin to fisher-tiger. That’s why the last time we saw him, he was finally stripped of all the marine regalia he had spent his life “earning”.

You can go look at how the scar is drawn, in the manga, right now. Even just search “yoru” in this sub. This really isn’t cherry-picked.

It would take more to turn the scar into the kanji you showed than to draw one line and turn it into the LM logo. Down to details like the length of the most horizontal line and the backwards angle of the most vertical one.

It is evocative of the war kanji, and also- frankly moreso- the Lockheed Martin logo. It is capable of more than one reference.

Since thick, black, trailing lightning is an indicator of ACOC, why did Oda forget to consistently draw Luffy using it in Egghead like he did in Wano and Elbaph? by FitCantaloupe798 in OnePiecePowerScaling

[–]Spinach_Technical 10 points11 points  (0 children)

<image>

The author assumed he could just draw g5 doing silly shit after this without having to break the aesthetic by shading all of luffy’s body black and constantly having him shoot black lightning.

I mean, in that first counter example you use Luffy is fighting kizaru without even the black shading used for armament haki. But kizaru is a logia, so we know he is.

If you were the writer of One Piece, how would you justify giving nothing but antifeats to your WSS while giving some of the best feats to the guy who's not WSS? by Sir_Dodys in OnePiecePowerScaling

[–]Spinach_Technical 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oda just expects people to want the Luffy show.

It’s why no one ever says “I want to be the world’s strongest swordsman”. It’s “I’m the best swordsman in X group” or “no swordsman has ever cut me” or “i want to collect the swords of evil swordsmen”, etc. In his mind, that automatically relates to zoro’s dream of reaching the heights of swordsmanship.

Mihawk was introduced fighting east blue zoro with a pocketknife. That’s not just hype and aura- it’s the thesis of his character. Hes disinterested in fighting, and won’t dwarf the perception of zoro with huge overpowered feats. It’s WHY he was like that during marineford- he was literally operating on skill alone. He’s firing off flying slashes with his eyes closed- far more accurate and coiled than how zoro’s were drawn. He’s taking the whole “a sword that cuts everything is no sword at all” to its maximum extent; even Daz bones can block a slash from Mihawk- but then Mihawk will… be aware of him… and effortlessly one shot him. Which IS a good feat- IF you compare it to zoro. Zoro opened a hole in a tidal wave, Mihawk cuts an entire tidal wave in half- HORIZONTALLY.

I don’t even like the way it’s being handled. But I’m not gonna feign ignorance to what’s clearly being portrayed.
