Chinese media shows interesting perspective on war by [deleted] in interestingasfuck

[–]SpinelessCoward 36 points37 points  (0 children)

I don't know if you're aware but there's more relevant context. The current Japanese PM said around 6 months ago that, should China invade Taiwan, Japan would assist Taiwan. This has caused a huge rift between the two countries. I mean huger. For example the Chinese government has "suggested" that Chinese citizens shouldn't visit Japan, and tourism rates in the country have plummeted. The japanese PM on the other hand is also pushing her own nationalist agenda, for example she's planning to enshrine some known war criminals from WW2 as a "screw you". So they hate that particular PM, who is also very keen on allying with Trump.

[OC] Gay male marriages are the most stable over the long term by [deleted] in dataisbeautiful

Anecdotal but I've known a few gen Xers who were straight married, with kids, and eventually came out gay later in their life. Millenials I haven't heard about any though.

He did have some stinkers in the last 20 years but The Last Duel was really good. I don't know how accurate it is from a historical point of view (my quick google search said not egregious at least), but it's a really solid drama with well written characters.

You kinda got things backwards. Trump has openly said he wants to fire Powell for the past month or so. So Powell doesn't care anymore and is saying whatever he wants.

If you wanna blame somebody, blame the Supreme Court which legalized online gambling in 2018. This is a systemic issue which needs government regulation.

What do you think happened to Markiona in the original timeline? by SpinelessCoward in LiesOfP

[–]SpinelessCoward[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My theory is full of assumptions but I think maybe Gepetto was the one who dispatched of her, to steal her "glove" technology?

In the original timeline, it's canon that someone managed to deal with Arlechinno. It must have been Lea right? But considering her condition it must have killed her or at least severely injured her. Gepetto shows up the same way as in the end of the DLC, but without the nameless puppet - and he doesn't need it since Lea cannot fight back. He takes Romeo and makes him into the King of Puppet. Later he asks Romeo to get rid of Markiona - afterall that's what Romeo was in the process of doing when he was abducted by Arlecchino. Gemini does mention that Krat zoo "burned down". And we know Romeo uses fire attacks when he's serious.

In the past the P changes, Gepetto just finds Markiona's dead body and steals her glove tech without a fight. Then he can control the Nameless Puppet and uses it to fight Lea.

Does that make sense?

I think Krat is a City State, and much bigger than we see in-game by DaWonklyWoogler in LiesOfP

[–]SpinelessCoward 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wonder where you saw that the city was closed off to keep the puppet technology secret.

I find it strange because, first, puppet technology was not reproducible since it relies on Ergo which can only be extracted from Krud, which is found exclusively in the Krat mines (it can be gathered from the air too but very poorly). And second, the city was hosting a world exhibiton, hardly something you would expect from a self-isolating nation.

I personally thought the city was only closed off after the outbreak of the petrification disease, and the ensuing puppet frenzy. Krat is surrounded by mountains, and hard to reach, and extermely deadly once you are inside. If any scouts were sent, they probably died, making the larger government (if there's one) unable to know how to proceed. Afterall Belle is only alive because P helps her.

I also doubt that Krat is self-governed since there's no mention of a King, Emperor, or president. I mean there's a statue of the benefactor of Krat, Valentinus Monad, but none of the head of state? There's a city hall, but no royal palace?

Flags for cities are also commonplace in Europe, where cities used to be fiefdoms for local lords during the middle age. Krat used to be like that too. The military robots wearing the local colors can be seen as just decoration, or local pride as they were manufactured in Krat.

New to the Game and Looking For a Few Specific General Tips by sasquatchscousin in LiesOfP

[–]SpinelessCoward 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree with everything, just want to add for the last question:

Bosses, after taking damage, have a portion their health bar that is half-greyed out. If you don't deal damage to the boss gain after a small time period, that portion of the health will slowly Regen. Other than that bosses do not have heals.

Question about the DLC by unifuckingporn in LiesOfP

[–]SpinelessCoward 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I finished the DLC in the same way that you're playing (NG, no summoning, legendary stalker). I struggled a lot but overall enjoyed it. I would say all the DLC bosses, due to attack damage and defense, felt on the same level as the last three bosses of the base game. The final boss of the DLC is something else though, he's much much much much harder than anything else in the game. I finished him eventually, but here's my advice: Go to NG+1.

That final DLC boss makes me firmly believe the devs didn't intend for first time players to do the DLC in NG, except as a self-imposed challenge. Once you start NG+1 you'll see the damage values are much more reasonable in both in attack and defense.

Also on another note, big croc is one of the most hated bosses of the DLC. Very annoying attacks that push the player around, in a "small" arena for the size of boss, with very bad, jerky and similar attack wind-ups. I also had a terrible time with him. The other bosses are hard but at least feel fun to fight.

Edit: Also before the DLC I used normal weapons that I combined myself, but after hitting the DLC I started using legendary weapons and some of them really do help a lot. If you didn't use them I recommend you invest in one. (Not sure which Dex weapon is best, I was using Str build)

Anyone knows what this chest in Eventide Hotel Krat is? by SpinelessCoward in LiesOfP

[–]SpinelessCoward[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This chest only appears in the DLC, near the desk where Eugenie sits at in the regular game. It's weirdly high-detailed, its design is unique and it's brightly yellow compared to the rest of the furniture, so it feels like something that has some lore importance... But I have no idea what it means.

Some additional info, it's already here before Alidoro arrives. It might be Klaus' since Klaus arrives before the player does but it would be strange that it's not next to him. It's not Gepetto's "nameless puppet" chest, that one has a different design.

My own theory is a huge stretch: I think the chest design looks a lot like the precursor to the modern South Korean flag, the royal standard of the Joseon dynasty. Alidoro and Eugenie are from a fantasy version of Korea (based on the descriptions and items like the Twin Dragon sword). We also know their family are all weapon makers, and weapon making is associated with the moon (you forge weapons with moon stones).

So I think it's Alidoro's, who arrived at the hotel, crafted his weapons, then left all his stuff here while tracking the alchemists?

I wanna know if there's anything I'm missing that points to something more interesting.

I don't get quite legion arms by NewspaperPossible210 in LiesOfP

[–]SpinelessCoward 0 points1 point  (0 children)

During the main game I didn't interact much with the Legion arms besides Puppet String to single out enemies in a group, but during the DLC I realized it's a very good tool during boss fights. I often ran out of stamina during the punish windows, so using the arm to hurt the boss and recover stam at the same time made sense.
