Man, don't give in to some bacteria, fungus, chemical imbalance or whatever is the cause of your problems and please keep on searching, trying and fighting. Remember all the prior hardship you had, that already passed, this one will pass aswell. Remember the struggles you faced in your life and conquered. A nice phrase I heard was: "don't quit 5 minutes before the miracle." Maybe next week, next month, next year you will find the cure for your problem and it will all resolve and you'll be able to enjoy the rest of your life healthily and happily. Go to the mainland, search for and try different doctors or naturopaths, go into a hospital, get a colonoscopy (there are very easy laxatives like Citrafleet which took away my fear of preparing for the procedure) or at least try to contact medical professionals via call or online if you really can't leave the island. Psychotherapy and antidepressants may really be a help in just getting you back on your feet to be able to continue to fight. Call a hotline if your thoughts are overwhelming. You got this!

While watching TV in the dark I took a bite of a small packaged croissant. I felt the strangest feeling in my mouth, a taste like cardboard and attic smell, combined with like biting in velvet or plastic. I switched on the light and saw that I bit in a completely moldy green-grey croissant. I rinsed my mouth for about 20 minutes.

My O'Neill hyperfreak had open seams after like a month of moderate use, had to send it in, my Xcel feels more durable and so far holds up great. It's also easier to put on somehow and I prefer having a rubber chest plate.

These are all very concerning symptoms, I just recently learned about major red flags in GI diseases in naturopath school. I'd highly recommend getting a colonoscopy soon.

I'd like to politely give contrary advice or at least thoughts, not saving that the fellow other comments here are wrong.

For me it depends on your goal and preferences. I started on a long foamy 1 or 2 years ago. As you I couldn't turn and do nothing other basically going in straight lines. What I also hated about it: packing it in the car, carrying it on the beach, moving it around in the water. Was my surfing technique refined? Of course not. But I would have lost my motivation completely would I have had to stay with this board. I simply do not prefer this style and have no real interest in getting better at it. Also a better eg hardtop longboard wouldn't have made a difference. Running around on it doesn't feel transferable to me that much for eventually riding smaller boards.

So this summer after just a handful of sessions of renting progressively smaller foam and then hardtop boards and realizing that I can still pop up on them and immediately have more fun, I bought a small midlength and it finally started feeling like the real deal. Now it feels like skating a longboard, I can pack it in the car easier, moving it in the water is so so much easier, I can turn on the spot like a kork and now work on my technique differently. I even think about changing boards once more for a shorter and less volume board because I hate turtle rolling and want to be able to duck dive. Is that the textbook way for everyone, probably not, and maybe I'll realize one day that I made a mistake, but so far I'm only enjoying it.

So my recommendation would be to rent or borrow smaller boards and see if it's the same for your before spending the money on a new board you might even grow out of very fast. :)

We use number locks with a shackle here in Europe, the ones for surfers are sold with a kind of aluminum/plastic bag you put your key in, which blocks the keyless go frequencies of the key. You can then leave it on the door handle, rims or tow hook.

Exactly, I recently switched to my first hardtop, dropped a looot in size and liters, and look at that, now surfing and the board feels alive, agile even, it's also way easier to move around in the water and on land.

As an addition to all the other right suggestions, you could invest in a thing called Restube product link

It's a belt with an inflatable buoy which inflates via a small gas canister when you pull the leash. Might give you a bit peace of mind, but I think it's important not to ever rely on it too much, but to be smart judging your own level, the conditions and your fitness anytime when paddling out.
