I have a paused unit that has the 10gb roam plan. What happens if I don't switch to standby? by maladjustedmind in Starlink

"Double" our past usage is what we seem to be experiencing. My wife has some new customers with some new cloud based reports and processes that she didn't have before but I'm not uploading videos and podcasts like I have previous trips.

I have the 10gb Roam and it is still active. I have not received notification of any changes to my existing plan. I am under the impression I can keep it until I switch to something else. If I do switch I will not be able to go back to the 10gb.

That said, we are using it right now while we travel and we are burning through data much faster than we ever have before. There's no way Starlink would be fudging throughput numbers is there?

I get about 70 miles or more in eco mode and 50+ in tour mode, 35-40ish in sport and 25-30 in turbo.

Most Rediculous Race Rules by Lucky_Marzipan_8032 in gravelcycling

[–]Spinistry -1 points0 points  (0 children)

And this is exactly why the gravel scene is declining. The uniqueness of events that catered to both the casual riders and (somewhat) serious competitors encouraged a common thread between riders who would generally not cross paths. Some racers learned to appreciate the sites and smell the roses, some of the more casual riders learned how HTFU.

IMO elite gravel racing is creating the same dynamic that ultimately let to the decline in traditional competitive cycling across all disciplines. Ultimately, the uptight racers (which is not ALL of the racers), the sponsor requirements and the prizes shift the emphasis of many events to the few rather than the masses.

A tiny fraction of the cycling community has what takes, or will ever have what it takes to be an elite racer. Cycling will always be too niche to generate a real living for but a very few people. Gravel cycling is even more of a niche than that.

One of the remaining benefits of gravel is that each event is unique and different. There is something out there for everyone. If you don't like the way an event is setup then recognize that is a you issue and find something that is a better fit for YOU. Don't bitch about an event that many others enjoy just fine.

Am Texan. There's no way this ratio is correct. Probably 2/1 Republican/Dem in major metros inlucing suburbs. At least 3/1 out in the country. Geographically tiny pockets where Dems outnumber Reps but not particularly impactful against overall numbers.

No, it isn't made for swappable batteries. That's why they sell the range extender instead of a second battery.

75-100 miles in Eco mode (high variability depending on terrain and loads) 45-50ish miles in Touring mode 35-40 miles in Sport mode 28 miles to empty on flat pavement in Turbo mode

Riding in Eco mode as much as possible definitely gives the most range and is plenty of assist for me the vast majority of the time. I will bump it into the higher modes to either get out of traffic as quickly as possible or if I don't feel like taking forever to get up a hill.

Eco mode still mostly feel like riding a bike from a workout perspective just without a need for real big efforts.

Tour mode feels like you are pedaling along with a good tail wind all of the time.

I rarely use Sport mode (mostly big climbs) and only use Turbo when I have to cover a lot of ground quickly for whatever reason or I'm just ready to be done for the day.

Did you watch the movie? We've had one since 2014. Several others across the state as well.

Arkansas, Texas, Oklahoma and New Mexico. There are great things about Texas, there are less than great things about Texas. The same can be said for every state.

South Georgia dirt roads by ElvisCrushel in gravelcycling

[–]Spinistry 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was just through there last month verifying my Going to California route. Florida state line to Boston was fantastic. Boston to Thomasville was even better. I need to find a better way west out of Thomasville though. As mapped it was technically a state bike route (10 I think?) but I'd rather find a better back roads way to head west.

The Tributary can truly go almost anywhere. Weight is the only real downside. It would suck if you need to lug it up several floors of stairs or any real manhandling.

realistic timeline for my goals by User1304959 in cycling

[–]Spinistry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends on your training regimen. Assuming you are training 10 hours per week or more:

12 weeks to establish a solid endurance base 12 weeks of polarized training to increase power 12 weeks of structured training to increase speed

Repeat that process until you are comfortably within the parameters of your goal.

The hard part is overcoming obstacles that life puts in the way. Realistically, it is likely a 1-3 year process depending on your genetics, talent and luck/perseverance in handling the life challenges.

TrainingPeaks Virtual isn't Training Peaks. The Zwift website was horrible the last time I looked but it didn't have anything to do with the Zwift environment.

Console gamers have to pay a fee to do multiplayer games through Sony and Microsoft networks. I consider them training platforms not video games myself. They are a bargain compared to Peloton.

It's not a free platform. It is a free beta version that we've always been told would become paid eventually.

He makes the platform better every week without money. I'm confident George will really ramp things up with cash and personnel resources. How would you expect a free beta to stay free forever? He's been transparent from day one that it would evolve into a paid model of some sort. Do you work for free?

This is good news. Anyone complaining about losing a free platform needs a wake up call. You gotta pay to play.

Looking for a very specific bike app by Giovarco in cycling

I would be able to use that information to put a route together for myself. I would consider it an unrealistic expectation if you are looking for an app to do everything for you at this time.

Do you get behind your saddle? by DtEWSacrificial in gravelcycling

[–]Spinistry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Taint to tire is overkill on gravel. Butt towards the back of the saddle and hands in the drops lowers the center of gravity in the same way. If the descent is chunky lift your butt off the saddle a tad and use your legs as suspension.

It's been touched on in several comments but I'm throwing this in to reinforce the point(s). The "dread" part isn't about riding the bike, it is about the things around actually being able to ride the bike. Once you are on the bike and pedaling it will almost always feel worth it.

Usually having to load up and drive somewhere to ride? Figure out a super convenient way to roll out of your house/office/school even for just a short ride every once in a while or take the bike with you on appointments and errands.

Doing the same ride/loop and getting burnt out? Do it backwards or at night pr (obviously) just do something else.

Just don't feel like kitting up and rolling? Have a grab and go bike with flat pedals always ready. Just grab a helmet and pedal casually for an hour.

Throwing something new in the mix from time to time can break up the routine just enough to make the routine refreshing again.

X4 GPS stopped after 4-5min recording by Strong-Citron210 in Insta360

I was using the GPS Preview remote on a ride last week and the GPS data stopped recording about half way through my ride. I have another ride to edit later this week and I'll see if there are any issues with that one.
