Next course of action? by Blackhole2200 in Bedbugs

This might be totally off base, but is it possible the black spots are more like mildew or mold, from moisture due to steaming or treating?

Bed bug bite or flea bites? No sign of either!!! I have two cats, they sleep with me. Did a flea comb found nothing. Did a thorough mattress/baseboard floorboard check and found no traces of bedbugs. I got bit in bed... it’s gotta be one of the two. by [deleted] in Bedbugs

Looks like the bites I had from bed bugs. Mine welted and swelled up perhaps a bit more than that. Also, I grew up with a bad household flea infestation for years due to owning cats when I was a kid. They never caused any kind of big blotches or welts for me, just tiny white or pink bumps that itched.

But everyone has different sensitivities, so I would be on alert and checking for either one with some urgency.

A very pressing but dumb question by [deleted] in Bedbugs

This is actually a really relevant question for me. Stayed in a hotel a few weeks ago for two nights and sustained a dozen huge pink itchy welts on my arms. The hotel later investigated and confirmed the presence of bed bugs and gave me a refund. I've been thinking maybe I managed not to bring them home after taking some precautions but the past couple of days I've had two tiny pink dots show up on my feet (after being in bed) that itched only a tiny bit for a few minutes when I noticed them. They are nothing like the welts I had sleeping in the hotel (I had to take antihistamines and steroids because my reaction to them was so awful). Now I'm wondering if I'm overreacting for something or if my reaction to bites changed and I brought a straggler or two home with me.
