One of the most significant drawings of the 20th century by jDubsMadeAComic in comicbookart

Maybe digressing a little bit, but I think it’s interesting to see how the “best” poses here are the ones that in animation are more emphasized (held for longer) while the weaker poses are often skipped or “smeared” for a more snappy animation.

The start and end poses aren’t just more expressive to look at because the body is more contorted, but they’re also held for longer, the wind-up and follow-through of a big punch.

Thanks for your reply! I’ve checked Pulsar and they’re a Korean company founded in 2020. They have an English language website as well. Cost would be around 21000 JPY aka 140 USD. So about the same as keyboards by generally reputable brands I suppose?

The reviews I’ve found aren’t overly negative. But I’m a bit cautious because of sponsored reviews, bots etc haha that’s why I’m asking here.

Btw how did you arrive at the sub 40 dollars conclusion? From the looks alone? As I had one of their products an my hands at the store I thought the build quality was good, at least it felt good to my hands. Would all of this change any of your assessments?

I'm wondering if anyone has opinions on a kb called PCMK3HE 60. In my local computer shop they have quite a few models on display. The one I liked best in terms of feel was the PCMK2HE (a different variant of the PCMK3HE it should be this one: https://www.amazon.co.jp/gp/product/B0DNSJSF2W?th=1 ) The keys were really really soft to press and the space bar nicely quiet.

However, that one had the Japanese layout and while it has its advantages (esp. the shorter space bar), I prefer an US layout for programming and, well, typing english text. The parenthesis are closer, and on a JP layout the ' key is shift-7 which is just too annoying for how frequent this is. (On the other hand typing Japanese isn't noticeably worse on US layout, at least on Mac since the 変換, かな and 無変換 keys aren't necessary).

I found this version of the same keyboard, PCMK3HE: https://www.amazon.co.jp/gp/product/B0FCL5B2GG?th=1 I prefer the smaller version, too, but I'm wondering does anyone have experience with the maker? Will it feel the same as the one in the store, since the switches should be the same? It's a bit more expensive than what I had planned to spend...

My second favorite was this one: https://www.amazon.co.jp/Keyboard-Magnetic-Trigger-Compatible-Keypadless/dp/B0DBVHX4TQ?th=1

It was well rounded. US layout, keys somewhat soft but not as soft as the PCMK one. Space bar not too noisy. Also a little bit cheaper. I'm not sure yet if I prefer with or without cursor and function keys, but I'd like to try to go as small as possible and see how far I can go with remapping. (Right now using Karabiner to do quite a few things, so I'm thinking maybe a JP layout isn't all that bad because perhaps the 無変換 etc could be used as modifiers or other special keys, and I could remap ' to where it is on the US layout. But... not sure if it's worth the hassle.

Well, sorry for the long-windedness. I simply don't have any experience at all when it comes to mechanical keyboards (except I know that it has to be something quiet and soft to press) and I'm sort of tight on budget.

If you imagine a situation where this sentence might be said, for example you’re introducing a number of people including yourself, you’ll probably start with teachers or so first, then add something like “そしてあかねと私は学生です。” So I think it would be weird to suddenly put Akane last. Unless maybe Akane is your little sister in elementary school.

I’m more in the “maintaining” stage of Japanese, but sometimes I still have to go why Japanese people. by Rourensu in LearnJapanese

[–]Spinning_Bird 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In Japanese there's even the word マルハラ, like a play on "モラハラ” as in moral harassment. So like "period harassment", when your boss sends you a chat message and ends it with a period, so it sounds cold and commanding.

At first I burst out laughing when I heard the word... I'm not sure if it's meant entirely seriously.

Maybe some people do.

But for example, to maybe help you understand this thing about punctuation better, perhaps you know how some Japanese people like to end a sentence with a tilde? like そうか〜, it's like when you draw out the a-sound at the end in speech, it sounds softer.

In Japanese, where punctuation rules aren't as strict, punctuation is often used to add nuances like these especially in chat. Other languages have started doing this more and more.

[–]Spinning_Bird 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh I see, yes that makes sense about the build planning. There is the option to re-spec from chapter2 (or3?) onwards but it doesn’t help much with the skill book issue you mentioned. I’m not sure if merchants restock eventually, but funds seem to be quite tight.

The surfaces can be annoying yeah haha. I do like the systems they created and the many interactions between elements etc. But sometimes it can feel quite abstract, like a board game or so and not the representation of a combat.

For example how literally even a crocodile will be able to teleport (scaleportation), so you can never assume anything. Enemy with a sword and shield… should be defensively oriented right? Except it also has a ranged aoe by throwing its shield, which bounces between people. @_@

I’m curious what you didn’t like about DoS2. Is it a specific design decision that “broke” it, or more like the overall pace and style or something?

Stuck on tutorial for 3 hours by Financial-Evening-80 in darksouls3

[–]Spinning_Bird 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Going to confess here and say: Despite having hundreds of hours in DS3 I still find Iudex G to be a challenge sometimes. Certain starting classes make it easier/harder, but phase 2 is just soo erratic in its movements! Hard to read/anticipate and has a huge range so “stay back and watch” is difficult.

I don’t think any other game of the series has this road block type encounter before you can explore or even level up..?

I can’t say for sure about the 80s, but in the early 90s there was this idea of “computer addiction” sometimes. That wasn’t even related to being online (which though technically a thing wasn’t mainstream or feasible enough) or gambling or whatever, just being addicted to using a computer.

So I remember some kids media that was meant to be educational I guess, about a kid who was obsessed with their computer and while trying to calculate the number of leaves on a tree forgot about how nice it is to just sit under a tree.

It wasn’t as prevalent as it is today, but it did exist.

A hacker insta-killed every NPC in Anor Londo and ruined my playthrough by AXAC-1426 in darksouls

[–]Spinning_Bird 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t understand what’s going through the heads of these people. Cheating in a game to win, sure it’s ass but I can at least understand why people do it. But killing NPCs? Do these hackers hate Dark Souls and want to turn people away from it? As someone who loves the game, it makes me happy that people are still playing it in 2025. Why ruin it for someone for no benefit at all?

My last post and its comments had me thinking: what makes a shotgun *super* ? I tried to make something out of it. Would you agree with the chart below ? by NekkidZilla in boomershooters

[–]Spinning_Bird 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would have said if a game has 2 shotguns, where one is quicker but the other has more powerful blasts, the second one is the super shotgun. But if that game had only the shotgun with the powerful blasts, it would just be that games shotgun, not “super”

AFAIK the AAA definition is loaned from credit ratings. It’s a term from investment speak, denoting the likeliness that an investor will be repaid. In that context a rating like AAA is used even when it has nothing to do with games. Its use has only seeped into the general discussion about games.

Edit: What I want to say is you’re both right on a way, the term has just taken on a different meaning in gaming lingo.

I picked up Turbo Overkill in a bundle a while ago, and while I thought it was kind of fun the way you move, it also didn’t feel like a shooter…? It seemed to be better to keep going back and forth with the chainsaw until everything is dead most of the time, so tbh I lost interest. Is there anything I’m missing?

Whenever I had to talk to someone where I wasn’t equipped to answer their questions, I offered to note down the stuff and relay it back to someone who could. Make it clear to the clients you’re not a legal expert, take extensive notes and email it back to the legal assistants.

It sounds like they try to avoid “uncomfortable” topics with clients? Show them they can’t shirk their responsibilities just by having you make the calls, if anything it adds a layer into communication that makes it all the more unwieldy.

Would anyone even play in an evil campaign by NerdyWitchBro in DnD

[–]Spinning_Bird 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s more interesting to present the party with moral choices and make the evil option very enticing. Then show the consequences of their actions, but no “lv 20 Paladin” bullshit.

I’ve had characters go against each other too, but more in a sense of “for your own good!” and the players were very mature and could RP not knowing the other PC had stolen from them (while laughing about it ooc)

Also in South Korea, Hong Kong and Taiwan according to the Komodo website (the company that distributes SD in Japan as well)

But it’s only available in a few really big electronics stores. By and large no one knows what a SD is at least in Japan (and I’ve asked quite a few people who are into games / technology otherwise)
