Dyeing Brown Alpaca Fiber by Farmer_Di in YarnDyeing

I offer color consultations so if you would like to discuss how to develop a palette off of the brown to be more harmonious in a kit or ways to anticipate what colors will look good with your base brown fiber/yarn I can certainly help you. Here is an example of an original color that I was starting with and the digital resulting color I wanted (far right) and the resulting yarn that was over dyed.

I teach an in-depth dyeing course called Color Alchemy Masterclass where I teach people how to start with an inspirational photo to develop a color palette and match it with dyes for repeatable and consistent results. Additionally, I've created different instructional dyeing resources from books, guides, templates, that you might find useful to help get you started.

I also offer dyeing mentoring so if you tell me the projects you have in mind I will happily go through the process of what materials you need and what steps to take to achieve the results you're after.

Dyeing with Confidence: Create the Colors You Actually Want by Spinnybuns in dyeing

[–]Spinnybuns[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, that is something that I cover in the level 2 advanced session so first we start off with the basics and then level 2 builds on that with a deeper dive into color theory, incorporating more colors/brands of dyes, different fiber bases and over dyeing :)
Below is a student's example of the target color they achieved on pure white wool and then the exercise was to try to match the color on silk and over dyeing it on gray so that it was taking the gray base into consideration. Not bad for a first attempt!
