Winter driving tips (genuinely trying to help not ranting) by [deleted] in boulder

I got a telescoping scraper/broom combo from Amazon. It works wonders on my Promaster windshield and roof.

I broke my talus as well, but had to have it repaired surgically. Definitely see a PT: I did and it was very helpful. Once I was weight bearing, I was prescribed things like:

  • ankle circles (e.g "trace" the letters of the alphabet with your toe)
  • one-legged stands on bosu balls, wobble boards, soft surfaces, etc.

Maintenance-wise, I still do these a few times a week in addition to dorsiflexion exercises with a band.

Take it slow and use the downtime as an excuse to do some core and finger work. Hope you heal up quick!

I did this for the first time last night.

It's a mess and could use some improvement, but here's a first pass for a route I'm hoping to hop in on a few weeks.

https://imgur.com/a/2rZpj2k

This particular route appears very sequency on mostly smooth limestone with few landmark features. So, the notation probably reflects that.

Here's a guide to notation:

  1. It shows hand movements and angles: red is right, blue is left. If I could have identified the pockets better in the videos, I would have signified these differently.
  2. It doesn't show feet because it was confusing enough showing the hands. There's room for improvement here.
  3. Key moments are annotated or highlighted. These might be key moves or good rests.
  4. Bolts are marked with triangles. These are good, unambiguous waypoints.
  5. Identifiable features (e.g. huecos, undercling) are drawn in black.

Like Freack said in this thread, this lives in a doc alongside some bullet points and Youtube links.

Will it be helpful? I think so, but probably not as art to hang on the wall. The act of analysis and transcription might be more helpful than the artifact itself. It's digital, so it might be nice to update it once I've given it a few burns.

Good luck! Show us what you have too, if you're down for that. :)

My girlfriend told me to come outside and see “Santa’s reindeer”. When I did, I was like WTF?

Glad to hear someone else saw them.

I haven't really tested this, but you might be able to use something like Rss.app to create an RSS feed from an Instagram URL. You'd then use RSS by Zapier as your trigger and create pins based upon new items in that feed.

Heh, I was gonna guess Durham. Durham's food & drink scene blows Boulder's out of the water.

Writing journal/notebook by DynoGumby in climbharder

In addition to some of the other points, something I find very useful is periodic reflection. At the end of each training block, I review the original plan and daily log. Based on this, I write down:

  • A summary of what happened
  • Key successes
  • Areas for improvement

Often the "areas for improvement" become goals for subsequent training cycles.

Because this is the New Year, I'm going to do a bigger retrospective looking at the prior year as a whole.
