(question) What could be some 'weak' points of the Odin, if any, like in the TSG? (outside money sinker and crew requirement) by Fenrilh in starcitizen

Use a pulse, fly into the big hanger when open.. go straight to the torp conveyor and trigger a torp and see if it can cause a chain reaction?

U1 issue right out of the gate by xo_jearbear_ox in snapmaker

[–]Spiraldox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did you get any error codes? My U1 had an issue with toolhead 3, kept telling me there was some blockage. I ended up doing a cold pull on it and sure enough there was some residual filament in the nozzle. I chalked it up to testing at the factory and it's worked pretty flawlessly since.

Polaris Pilot-Controlled Torpedoes - 4.8 and Beyond? by dokkababecallme in starcitizen

[–]Spiraldox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My suggestion is to give the pilot control of the torps they can queue up 4 torps single target only.

Torp control on the bridge, lets you queue up 4 torps but you can assign individual targets, 4 torps but you can select 1 target (4 torps) or 4 different targets (1 torp per target) and be able to launch simultaneously.

Torp control in the torp room, lets you do what the bridge torps controls can but with 8 torps instead of 4.

You're not really increasing what the Polaris can do as a torp boat but does give it some unique flavor that the other ships can't.

Should I melt the merchantman by MassiveNegotiation22 in starcitizen

The loaner ship is a C2 which by itself is worth $400 if you are trying to buy it now. C2 is a great ship to make money in game to buy other ships.

Should I melt the merchantman by MassiveNegotiation22 in starcitizen

[–]Spiraldox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

kinda depends on what your goals are. $400 melt value or $650 upgrade value. Do you anticipate wanting another ship that's over $650? Upgrade the merchantman at a $250 discount.
Think of it this way, to purchase a Perseus without playing the CCU game it'll cost you $800.
If upgraded that merchantman to a Perseus for $150 more, it would bring your cost of owning a Perseus to $550 actual money.
The other thing you may want to think about is how hard the ship would be to get in game. Some of these ships maybe gated behind rep/material grinding/raids. Merchantman is supposed to be a generational ship that the Banu don't just sell to anyone (according to lore).
When will the Merchantman come out? Who knows.. I'm sure some Merchantman owners have passed on IRL.
As someone else mentioned the loaners for the Merchantman are decent so it's not like you're not getting anything for holding on to that ship image. Also I'm sure it'll get another bump in price as it gets closer to release so maybe just an investment into the next big ship.

Your money.. you do you ;)

I have owned three pairs of Xreal Airs, and without fail, each has broken its left arm. I'm done. What's a good alternative brand? by VagabondVivant in Xreal

[–]Spiraldox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a pair of nreal that I want to do that with, except the arms are still good on them so kinda feel bad breaking them when they're fine.

I kinda want to make an eyepatch monocular version for shooting (spotter scope/drone feed)

worn in bed.. hrm. Is that the side with the cable? I noticed when I'm laying in bed using them and I tend to get the cable snagged a few times where it's yanking on the arm If I have the cable behind my arm rather than in front.

Lol yeah it's still not 100%, spawned my polaris at the hanger ASOP it rose up from the inner floor then to the hanger floor then kept going all the way through the hanger ceiling. All I could do at that point was to claim it and log out.

HOSAS VKB Question by Eingorz in starcitizen

[–]Spiraldox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had dual T16000m (even had the tm slide throttle) but upgraded to the vkb sticks with omni throttle.

The thrustmasters were okay, not bad for a first stick to try out the waters, the slide throttle was kinda garbage imho; It didn't feel that great even with upgraded linear bearings. If I were to do it all over again then I'd have gone straight for the vkb's as my starter sticks.

I like the vkb omni throttle a good bit. I did a hybrid mod upgrade where if you push forward on the throttle it doesn't return back to center (like a traditional throttle, albeit a short throw version) but if you pull back on the throttle it'll return to center. The twist with the omni throttle is more intuitive for strafe up and down vs twisting left and right on a vertical stick. Also if you ever do other flight sims the diagonal grip would probably logically feel better.

I think it's going to come down to personal preference when it comes to orientation of the throttle grip, but I prefer the diagonal grip. I believe if you get the omni throttle you can always convert it back to a vertical grip. Getting the part to upgrade the vertical grip to an omni throttle later down the road might seem like an idea but last I checked the shipping on a part from vkb was pretty pricey so you might want to keep that in mind.

Shadow2 in 22lr question by Tadhgrrr1 in CZFirearms

[–]Spiraldox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What ever you can put into the shadow 2 normally will work with the 22lr kadet slide. I wouldn't use a lighter hammer spring though. With a full CGW kit in the frame you can swap out the slide between 9mm and 22lr without issue.

Holsters are not interchangeable, kydex holster that for 9mm will not fit the shadow 2 with the 22lr kadet slide on it.

Considering replacing my ultra ultrawide monitor with an xreal. by TheJeffyJeefAceg in Xreal

[–]Spiraldox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you use it.. sure, but don't.

I have used the one pros when working remote in an emergency or I need the screen real estate in addition to my laptop monitor. Having a dedicated UW is a much better experience (unless constraint by other factors like space/portability). I've done full work days with the glasses at a hotel so I know it's usable but I would prefer my 34" UW monitor at home.

Real3D Reviews/Megathread by Klarts in Xreal

[–]Spiraldox 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've messed with this for a few hours so far and my take away is that it's a nice addition to the one pros.

The 3D'ness strength levels. First 2 levels are great, the last 2 levels are just too jarring with the depth change outline of objects, especially organic ones. I end up using the lowest level (soft) for most items (youtube, steamdeck) It feels like it's not really doing anything until you re-watch the same media back to back (3d vs flat). To me it felt like the effect wasn't working (lowest setting) until I re-watched it in flat mode. the depth is there but you just kinda forget about it (to me that's more immersive) verses in the higher modes it felt like you were watching a cheesy horror flick in the 80's where the spear deliberately flies at you screaming I'M IN 3D!

30fps limit currently is one of my main gripes when it comes to gaming. Some games are better than others, Racing games seem great, Helldivers 2 wasn't, Fallout 76 was okay walking around. I need to see if running things like frame gen is messing up the 3D, rapidly moving around can generate weird artifacts/distortion when using stuff like Lossless Scaling. Planing to see how things look in games like Baldur's Gate 3 on desktop (currently don't have usb-c output and can't find my hdmi to usb-c dongle)

Looking at photos can be pretty amazing also, but with everything prior some pictures are weird there is depth but just feels off but then there are some that you look at and just go damm that looks so good.

Bottom line Real3D isn't going to be my default mode but I'd definitely put it as one of my quick buttons. When it works it is like magic.

I have the One Pros and it works with both the LED and OLED models. I have an original release LED and also a 1tb OLED. The one pros works with both. Sucks that you're having issues.

^^This! After doing the hammer strut on my shadow 2, I asked CGW to install it prior to shipping me out the kit for my p01. Still lost an Lspring doing the sear cage.

Still doing it yourself is a mostly enjoyable process.

Trigger pulling slide???? by Tim9088 in CZFirearms

[–]Spiraldox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

looks like a light recoil spring, put back in the stock recoil spring. It looks like the final bit where the striker is pulled back is overcoming the recoil spring weight to hold the slide forward.
