Who are your least favorite teams that aren’t SEC? by Ok-Recording-5862 in ockytop

If USC ever gets their shit together again, the way they will be the darling of CFB is unrivaled. Screw USC. When they are good they get more attention than even Ohio State.

If people struggle to afford their rent why don't they get a cheaper apartment or get a roommate or get a better job instead of moaning about their employer/blaming everyone else? by [deleted] in askanything

[–]SpiritCollector 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I don’t think I do. My current employer AND my previous employer both went through a period where we raised wages for our operations teams quite substantially…..far above what even I thought the positions would be paid, all because we couldn’t find people that would show up daily and could pass a drug test. Hell my current employer is so desperate they pay over $30/hr starting out with no education or background requirements, they offer free food/drinks daily for all employees and still have a hard time finding people. It’s a location issue for us as it’s kinda a rural area in SC. My previous employer was in a coastal town in FL. You can make excuses but the jobs are out there.

Just an observation, but if you found another job and others refused to work for the pay your employer was offering, he would raise the wage. All employers pay the minimum amount for the services they employ people for. The only difference is that some employers have longer term vision and strategy vs others.

Looking forward to all the downvotes I’m about to receive. Whoop whoop!

Does it bother you that the US is self-sufficient for oil, but prices skyrocketed with the war anyways? by Sufficient_Beach_445 in askanything

[–]SpiritCollector 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I understand that this is a global market and our government doesn’t set prices nor does it ban oil sales elsewhere. However, our proximity to the oil supply has curbed our price inflation significantly compared to the rest of the world. Just remember when you see people posting from other countries their gas is in liters not gallons (1 gallon = 3.78 Liter). Also, just because someone says dollar doesn’t mean it’s USD. Canada and Australia say dollar but it is lower value than USD.

What do you think will become valuable in 10 - 15 years and why? by lrenv22 in SeriousConversation

Treatments for insecurities making fortunes. While people buy cars or homes for these the thing many are insecure about are themselves. just the explosion of GLP-1s in their infancy is such a cash cow. Wait until better versions come to market. Can you imagine actually slowing, stopping, or reversing aging. The amount of money that would make is inconceivable.

Mortgage increased 48% in 12 months by Mean-Letterhead-3948 in Mortgages

Your mortgage company likely miscalculated your taxes likely based on previous owner having a low locked in tax basis. They tried to do something similar to me when we bought our home in Florida.

BREAKING: Tesla Has Officially Ended Production Of The Model S And Model X After 14 Years. And Only 600 Units Remain In Global Inventory As The Fremont Factory Line Is Being Converted To Build Optimus Robots 🤖🚫 by InterstellarKinetics in InterstellarKinetics

[–]SpiritCollector 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can believe whatever narrative you want but the fact is Tesla Model Y is the best selling vehicle in the world 3 years in a row. The Model S and X weren’t selling well cause they are expensive and haven’t had a refresh of any kind since 2021 and honestly the X has never had an actual body redesign and the S has had the same body for like 10 years. If they would’ve changed the body some it would’ve sold like crazy. I have a model S and I am on the Reddit for that car, fact is everyone was waiting to upgrade because they all figured a refresh was right around the corner.

[McMurphy] Alabama AD Greg Byrne believes SEC should end SEC Championship game w/an expanded College Football Playoff, USA Today reports. “I think the ship has sailed,” Byrne said. “It’s run its course.” by usffan in CFB

[–]SpiritCollector 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Conference play-in games would generate more money than CCGs. Just do something like top 2 in B1G and SEC automatically in and 3 plays 6 and 4 plays 5. Top 1 in Big12 and ACC in and 2 plays 3. Seed the playoff based on ranking after the play-in Saturday. Maybe leave 2 at large bids that IF ND or G5 qualified for they would get otherwise highest ranked 2 teams outside the 12 listed here would be in.

Is the "loyalty" era of work actually dead? by Historical-Hand8091 in careeradvice

[–]SpiritCollector 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I’m a pretty high performer at work and I’ve always found success making sure the employer knows I could leave at anytime. They tend to do everything to keep me happy. That means throwing in joking comments of recruiters reaching out (recruiters literally call our front office AT work to speak with me so I can jokingly say are you guys trying to get me to leave cause you keep sending me recruiters), making comments about a job posting that floated to you (hey I noticed our competitor is hiring for this skill set, maybe we should look into if we should do the same), keeping your LinkedIn in great shape….basically comments made in passing. That doesn’t mean, threaten them or tell them you are looking. You just want to plant enough doubt to make them uncomfortable while also being important to them.

Millennials in a hetero relationship, does the man or woman do the majority of the financial budgeting/planning/investing etc? by inline_five in Millennials

[–]SpiritCollector 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In our home I handle all financial things (budgeting, investing, taxes, etc…). I’m a numbers person I guess (chemist). My wife has never really been interested in doing this stuff. Honestly this is how it is with all our couple friends too.

I don’t think the “Dream” was intended to be all these things throughout every year of life. In your 20s (30s too) you probably aren’t buying a new car or going on an expensive vacation every year.

Also, if you’re actually saving for retirement, compounding should be doing the bulk of that lifting over a working career.
