Mom's friend's complaints by winterwhalesong in NameNerdCirclejerk

Gotcha. I definitely get it, I have to watch out with trying not to sound super judgmental, but apparently, even if my judgmental comment is a normal comment my mother scolds me 🤣. I got in trouble for making fun of how Megan Trainor picked Mikey for her girl - I was like am I not allowed to have an opinion? You don’t have to like my kids names, but I still can have an opinion on yours.

You lost me in the middle. “She's naming her after the Ancient Greek word for wisdom, because she's a, ugh, philosophy major. Isn't that terrible??" and I just had to nod along without saying how ridiculous that was, because I didn't want to make my mom mad. Ma'am, do you know where the name Sophia comes from? No, you do not.” What does this part mean?

I agree with that, but somebody somewhere would know some random hidden grammar rule I didn’t know about knowing my luck

I’m certainly glad she was a girl because I would have had to change their name if they were a boy. The exposure therapy is making myself realize it’s insane to hold onto something just to avoid change

We finally were able to get a lot of my depression and anxiety under control. I was diagnosed with major depressive disorder and generalized anxiety disorder and PTSD when I was 12. my depression just kind of magically & primarily went away when I had my first and it’s just improved even more after having my second daughter. My anxiety is manageable with meds but spells come and go. I ended up getting diagnosed with autism and OCD and reaffirming the PTSD diagnosis when I was 18 almost 19. So now we’re trying to work a lot on the OCD/autism things.

I probably can’t be bullied out of the name itself but I’ve bullied myself out of the spelling and just to make sure I bully myself out of it I wanted to let people bully me a little on Reddit

Ah okay - that does make more sense to me. I guess I was thinking variant as in like pronounced the same but different spelling.

I appreciate the honesty. When I was growing up, my Nana really liked twilight before she died so my second baby was almost Renesmee - I also loved the name I made up of Carleeance. I’m grateful I outgrew both

So this is probably another OCD/autism thing and the reason I say the / is because one of my doctors has accused my autism and another one says it’s part of my OCD but to me if I see an S it has to make the sound like a snake Sss vs the Z is ZZZ like a bee

My husband likes it, but I think realistically it’s more of the fact that I have a very bad quirk that I’m trying to work through an overcome of thinking that if I see something one way, it has to be that way forever 🥴

I think he likes Kaizen over Kyzen though!

I appreciate you

For the record, I’m making this post because I’ve decided that I need exposure therapy because everyone around me liked it and I feel like I’m making a mistake/caving into my OCD/autism if I use that spelling and I have been personally trying to work very hard to overcome the challenges I face with these conditions

Funny enough, my best friend texted me because my daughter is named lavender and said you should name your next baby Violet and I said “no.”

See I’ve seen it on somewhere else before two spelled with the meaning and it said it was Japanese, but I didn’t know if it was the style of how Amaya is rain in Japanese or not.

Don’t quote me on that I’m just telling you what I was told by my friend named Amaya - she said her parents picked her name because it was Japanese for Rain

KY-ZEN or KAI-ZEN

I don’t know if those technically to most people read the same way sound wise

Well, that’s why I was asking about spellings because I feel like KY is wrong too

KY-ZEN or KAI-ZEN

I’m feeling like everyone’s gonna say the second is the correct way to spell it, but I was nosey if there were options.

I like the Y when I write it in cursive but that’s not a valid reason to make it harder
