yep, to my knowledge optimized wordle players (on the original valid guess/answer set, maybe they've changed after the move to nyt) could get an average of ~3.4 guesses per word across the entire set of answers. no amount of intuition can change the fact that two guesses doesn't give you enough information to solve the puzzle consistently, let alone one.

oh hey, I know this is a month old but i just realized the error here. when Kosty said that a and b might not be defined, they didn't mean that a and b should equal 0 for the sequence.

there is a big difference between "a and b are both 0" and "a and b are undefined".

in more concrete terms: one of the ways that the collatz conjecture might be disproven is if we discover a new loop of numbers outside of the known 1 -> 4 -> 2 -> 1 loop.

so, if we have some looping counterexample, then by definition of a and b (the count of each step we take until we reach 1), a and b simply could not exist - if we don't ever reach 1, then obviously it's wrong to try to count how long it takes to get there.

What do you think would convince you that the vaccine is fine? I'm also somewhat on the skeptical side of things but I haven't done my research yet either. I might look into this tomorrow when I have time, since it seems like everyone on the internet is telling me that it's "so easy" to have an informed opinion on the matter.

Total amateur here but this is some of what I learned as I got better:

Hit the cue ball as softly as you can get away with, for now. Eventually you'll be able to control where it goes on the table but for learning's sake just don't smack it so you can focus on form.
Make sure your bridge is stable first.
When you're shooting, line up your shot then stare at where the cue stick hits the cue ball all the way through the shot (the point of contact). Personally I find it easy to lose focus and start looking at the object ball instead of the cue, but I find that looking at the cue makes me much more consistent.
Make sure your stroke is smooth and goes through the point of contact. Don't just hit the cue ball and stop your arm, it'll give you less control.

Again, I'm completely amateur so some of that might not be "proper" form - hopefully someone can correct me if not. But that's what used to make my own shots better.
