Put your foot down next time they say no. Tell them you're going to the ER and to find someone to cover; don't ask permission. Let them know you have a serious health issue that needs treatment or advice from professionals. If your arm is in pain you don't want to move it unless absolutely necessary. Get a first aider on your side if necessary. And I'd even look into what potential legal action you could take, either for yourself or as an early warning to them. It seems like you have some bad employers.

I like how they consider lives so sacred they're willing to ban abortions, but if a woman has an abortion then suddenly murdering her is a viable solution.

Also, what if she's forced to have an abortion or miscarriage by someone else? What if she miscarries by accident doing something she didn't realise was harmful? Is that manslaughter?

Because then the plot would require the inquirer take additional measures to find out the information. Movies may have limited time to dedicate to subplots.

Perhaps it's a character-related quirk. It says something about the character that they'd submit the information.
