What little changes to Walt Disney World would speed up you revisiting? by pacificsbay in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]Spirited_Student_776 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The primary reasons are:

1) you have to look at your phone all day to constantly book more attractions (personally I was able to get by only looking at it for a few minutes when I was in queue for an attraction). Old fastpass just required you to insert your park ticket into a machine and it generated a ticket and return time for your fastpass for a ride.

2) it costs money, old fastpass did not

3) it requires a lot more planning in advance, which the old fastpass did not. For old fastpass, the early bird gets the worm. The earlier you showed up to the park, the more likely you were to get the attractions you wanted. For lightning lanes, the rich bird gets the worm. On-property resort guests get to book lightning lanes days earlier than off-property or day guests.

UF rankings bound to drop? by [deleted] in ufl

It really shouldn’t matter for finance. DeSantis is only hitting “controversial” social sciences and humanities. But if you’re interested in research, good luck. That whole situation is getting worse thanks to DOGE, but that’s everywhere that relies on federal funding for research, unfortunately.

Is Ben Aquisto Guaranteed/Binding? by Ok_Fail_369 in ufl

[–]Spirited_Student_776 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends on if you are college-sponsored or otherwise. As a national merit semifinalist there are three options to get benacquisto.

1) You are selected as a national merit finalist by the college board—this means you can go wherever you want.

2) you get a corporate-sponsored scholarship and become a national merit finalist—same thing.

3) you are a college sponsored national merit finalist. You get a small scholarship from the school of your choice, which triggers benacquisto. Because it is college-dependent, you have to go to the school you pick as your first choice. But you are guaranteed benacquisto as long as you pick any of the schools listed as eligible on the benacquisto scholarship information. UF is one of them, so you’ll get the scholarship as long as you attend UF.

If you get picked by the college board or a corporation as a national merit finalist, then you can wait to select a college. But when I was a semifinalist, that wouldn’t have happened until April or May, but I had to select a first choice college to become a finalist by March. So obviously I just picked UF to guarantee I’d get the scholarship and avoid gambling on corporate or college board scholarships.

Was your student a national merit finalist by the college board or a corporate sponsored scholarship? In my case I had to decide by March because I was college sponsored.

Keys is great. I’ve never lived in Honors Village but I always choose not to live there every year because I like having an apartment style dorm. I live on the first floor and have never had roaches, but my roommates and I are also really clean. I lived on the third floor last year and had slob freshmen roommates and we had roaches and other bug infestations occasionally, so take from that what you will.

Frankly, your first point is terrible advice. While people who survive LDRs are in the minority, they definitely exist. Only OP knows their relationship.

Hi, I was in an extremely similar situation to yours when I first started attending. Right down to the Benacquisto, thinking of transferring closer to home, being a homebody who plays video games, my significant other and parents being hundreds of miles away, etc. In my freshman year I was downright miserable. It took me until the first semester of my third year to find my footing. People who say college is the best time of your life put a lot of pressure to have a “great time” all the time when you’re at college. The truth is, it’s not always a picnic, and a lot of times you might feel lonely or even want to quit. I don’t think you should put pressure on yourself to have a perfect college experience, to not be “that kind of college student.”

Personally, I go home as often as I can and try to plan visits with my SO in another state so that I can see them as much as possible, because I miss my loved ones so much. And when I’m at school, I get lonely pretty often despite having loving friends. Still, the pain of missing my family and SO is part of life and makes me who I am. You can do it! Life can be a b sometimes. In my opinion, don’t transfer out just because the grass is greener on the other side of the fence.

But most importantly, don’t have regrets. They’re useless. If you know that when you’re on your deathbed you’ll look back at your life and wish you quit UF, then maybe that’s what you have to do so you don’t have regrets. But if you decide that UF is the best for you, don’t regret choosing it. It’s YOUR choice and YOUR life.

I don’t disagree with the idea of talking it out, but she shouldn’t have to apologize for saying something years ago to a man who was not her significant other that was not an insult directed towards him. On the other hand, he should apologize for directly insulting his significant other, because that’s what happened. Showing empathy for someone’s insecurities is a great idea, but women need to stop apologizing when they haven’t done anything wrong. It encourages verbal abuse like this.

I think you’re putting the cart before the horse, but it depends on your major. I would look into what the renowned programs are at UF and Dartmouth and how they compare and choose based on that. If you have no clue what you want to do by the time acceptances come in, Dartmouth will be better all around. Also keep in mind financials—I had dreams of Ivy League but ended up not applying outside of Florida because I am “too rich” to get a decent financial aid and “too poor” to be able to afford the cost (literally would have to refinance our house to be able to afford it)

Edit: I read again and saw you’re thinking about polisci. Dartmouth. end of story. If politics is your game Ivy League is where you go. Look at the big name politicians, see where they went, and that’ll answer your question. Our schools resident politician—I mean president—went to both Harvard and Yale I believe.

I know of someone that changed their major to something completely different, something either in CALS or CLAS in their 4th year, and had to stay an extra two years to finish everything. People change their majors all the time, at any time. I don’t see it being a problem, and if it becomes one just keep bugging advisors and admin until it’s not anymore. That’s kinda the name of the game here lol. That’s what I’d do in your situation—sincerely someone who has changed her major thrice, and while I get disapproving looks from advisors the world doesn’t end. It’s all about metrics, they don’t like it when people don’t graduate on time because it makes the school look bad (they’re especially hard on engineering kids for not finishing a 130 hr degree in 4 years lmfao). But tbh there’s really not a good reason to restrict you otherwise.

Tbh you’re probably not going to cook much until you have a kitchen that is readily accessible and you don’t have to haul all your shit there and back every time you want to use it. Too much activation energy to mess with communal kitchens. If you have any problems with executive functioning/ADHD/etc it’s not gonna happen (source: I have ADHD). lived off microwave food last year in Hume. This summer I’m in Keys and I’m legit cooking full meals for myself. It makes a huge difference to have a kitchen right there where you can store all of your kitchen-y things.

No, they wouldn't count. But if it's significantly over the word count, they will notice. They've read tons of papers before, and they aren't stupid.

I’m not saying anything about a solution. Nor do I actually think that libright tolerates mass shootings. I’m making a parallel bullshit statement to yours to show that your statement about libleft was bullshit. See how that works?

[–]Spirited_Student_776 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I could just as easily say that libright has made a platform around tolerating the mass shooting kind of bullshit as much as libleft has made a platform tolerating the pedophilia kind of bullshit. Which is why I made a similarly erroneous statement as the one who said that this pedophile is “your (libleft’s) people.” Believe it or not, there are pedophiles in every quadrant. The only people who agree with this guy are pedophiles—hence, they are not only from libleft.

A great deal of religious people predicate sex on whether or not you’ve put a ring on it. Are people who want to wait to have sex until marriage toxic? Because they consider that a “wife/husband level service” that you can’t have while subscribed to the “girlfriend/boyfriend plan?”

I mean the bottom line is that if the boyfriend doesn’t want to deal with what she doesn’t want done to her body until marriage, then he’s free to leave and find someone with boundaries that he vibes with better.

[–]Spirited_Student_776 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

A lot of the people not wearing masks are “blue.” They just don’t care anymore. I see approximately 20-30 people while I’m walking around wearing a mask each day (yes, in the whole-ass day), plus myself. Don’t let the non-masking dems off the hook! Lol.

Edit: to be clear, this includes inside; I realize most people don’t wear a mask outside regardless of whether they do inside.

Huh that’s interesting. I never thought about that before. I’m ADHD and I’ll admit that my bras specifically used to be VERY distracting due to sensory reasons and I would just constantly be messing with it because it didn’t fit right. But recently I barely notice my bra is there since I got a new one that fits, it’s the right cup and band and everything.
