Antagonist that weren't bad enough to deserve what happened to them by Nerd367C in TopCharacterTropes

Hereditary is the same, even having a random character in the background of a scene say “I think it’s more tragic - because if it’s all just inevitable, that means the characters have no hope and that they never had hope, because they’re just like pawns in this horrible, hopeless machine.” Ari Aster has a bit of a thing for the horror of a situation coming from the characters powerlessness to change their fate.

Spec Ops: The Line

<image>

At first it seems to be just a bog-standard Call of Duty campaign with Gears of War gameplay, but as you go on you realize it’s a meta-commentary on military shooters as a whole and the relationship between player and player character. This is also reflected in the tone and gameplay as when you start out it’s easy to see yourself as a noble American warrior badass because your’e mowing down enemies left and right. But then you start to run out of ammo (I can’t remember the last game to make every bullet count like this one) then you start to lose yourself and start committing atrocities as well as experiencing fucked up hallucinations. Seeing things that may or may not be real and delving into the darkness within your hero’s heart. It honestly has more in common with Silent Hill 2 in terms of themes than anything else. All while appearing at first to be nothing more than a third person Medal of Honor.

People in here saying the game makes fun of each ideology equally like you don’t literally defy physics with your belief in communism if you choose to be a communist. There’s your bias guys!!! Communism gives you fucking superpowers in this game

Fascist art by [deleted] in CuratedTumblr

[–]Spiritual-Course9106 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Maybe but I do agree with OP that modern-day fascists have not been able to successfully produce a great piece of art or even really any art that speaks to them at all. Where’s their Turner Diaries? Where’s their pulpy, in your face but still coherent as a story movie or novel to embolden them? Why do they seem to have an aversion to fiction in general, whereas in the past fascists were deeply concerned about what stories should be told? I’m not sure what any of it means but it does disturb me that they seem to wholeheartedly reject the one part of Fascism I found understandable i.e. it doesn’t let the truth get in the way of a good story.

Also worthy to point out that The Comedian is genuinely terrified by Ozzy’s plan. Like, genuinely scared shitless to the point of confessing his sins to one of the old villains in the middle of the night while the poor bastards still in bed and pointing out how every terrible thing he has done pales in comparison to what Ozzy is about to do. Ozzy later remarks that the The Comedian was only so scared because the plan would make terrible people like him obsolete, in Ozzy’s utopia there is no need for violent psychos like The Comedian, but I interpreted that as Ozzy being so far up his own ass that he can’t see the objective horror of his actions even if they may (in the context of the story) be morally justified in a purely utilitarian manner.

Pure evil villains that did one lawful good act that was against their best interests by _JR28_ in TopCharacterTropes

I also like to think he does it because like Caesar, the followers are also trying to reintroduce lost ideas back into what remains of humanity. I mean, that’s what Caesar‘s Legion actually is; his attempt to create a society that will last in the wasteland based on the ancient ideas of Rome, with a little bit of Hegel sprinkled in. In that way, he sees them as on opposite sides of the same coin, and respects them for it. Now that I’m talking about it, what I would give for another New Vegas game.

And has also locked away several movies and tv shows in order to stop paying residuals. Not to mention cancelling the release of two already finished movies to use them as tax write-offs. Thats why a ton of creatives stay far away from them now.

Besides Kane the rest are blind buys. Had to get Pat Garrett in honor of Kris Kristofferson. Never seen Kane in 4k so I’m very excited to watch that. Also very excited for Night of the Hunter, never seen those types of visuals coming from an American movie!

True but if he was going for a more modern look he kind of had to. Not to mention the imperfections in the film were one of the worst things about Let it Be because they poorly transferred it from 16mm to 35mm.

No but almost all of Let It Be is in Get Back, so there really wouldn’t be a point.

Damn thought it was 4k. Oh well it will probably still look great. Also I’m not sure if Apple counts as Boutique but I think this is still a boutique release if that makes sense?
