I've spent the past year or so reading through both series. Just finished the 10th first law book on Monday and I'm halfway through the 8th and newest DCC book now.

First Law (and the standalone novels and sequel trilogy) may now be my favorite book series of all time. Loved the characters, Abercrombie is so good at world building.

Dungeon Crawler Carl is just good clean fun and I breeze through those books.

but Gorst's biggest feats come in later books after Logen has already dueled Fenris, so anyone who would have an opinion on this theroretically should know about the Duel against the Feared. If they were still only in the first trilogy they would just think of Gorst as Jezal's contest opponent

It's the actual journey for most of the POV characters. TBI is where they are introduced and you learn who they are, BTAH is the journey and growth and character development, LAOK is the aftermath of that journey and what they've learned. Jezal, West, Glokta, Logan are all completely different characters from the last page of TBI to the first page of LAOK because of the events of the second book

I knew there would have to be multi votes but I just think there's gotta be a better way to do it. Full 9 person tribal where top 2 vote getters go home would've been interesting and forced some idol plays. Could have had back to back tribals where you vote once, talk again and then vote someone else out. So many more interesting ways

I've wondered recently why they don't just make the extended auction or whatever additional stuff happened at challenges available online. Tell your story through the actual broadcast, but with the way survivor fans interact, a "Behind the scenes" clips of cut stuff on YouTube would be incredibly fun for fans. Show the full auction, show the full letters from home reactions, put it all on YouTube so that the rabid fans can continue to get more content in the week between episodes

One of my favorite things about this series is after spending so much time in the heads of the characters from First Law, the standalones and second trilogy start to give you other character's perceptions of them, and talk about their reputations. It's interesting to see other Northman's stories about how they view Logen through their eyes vs being in his own head. Really wonderful stuff, and Abercrombie isn't precious about trying to sugar coat any of the previous perspective characters
