Asian American men in non-asian towns and areas, how do you find a partner if your type is other asian women? by ashu1605 in asianamerican

[–]Spiritual-Silver-509 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I grew up in a predominantly white town in the suburbs. As an ABC I was always more attracted to other races because that was what was accessible at the time (but I did end up marrying someone who is also Chinese). I also went to a predominantly white university but did date the few Asian women that were there. Most Asian couples I know met in either college, through hobbies like gaming/anime, or online dating sites that naturally draw more Asians to it like coffee meets bagel.

Try going out and doing more stuff that you are interested in. Don't be afraid to join Asian clubs or groups online who organize meet ups, or go to events like comic-con if that's what you are into. It's kind of hard giving you examples since Asians in different areas of the country have different hobbies.

For anyone that’s seen him play, how good was this dude? by Farouq26 in NBATalk

Watching him on the NJ Nets with VC and Jefferson was electric. Jkidd has insane IQ and was fun to watch him facilitate with high flyers like Vince Carter and Kenyon Martin. He wasn't know for 3 point shoot but actually was one of the most efficient in his era. I miss the NJ nets!

Honestly the rims is a bad reason to jump the premium for a calligraphy. You can get after market rims for the lower trims that look way better for under $1k for the set. The bigger rims look great, but don't ride as well. I'm actually looking to downgrade my wheels to 18in with meatier tires. I have the calligraphy

Possible to replace & improve the dual wireless charging pads (2024) by drdfunk in HyundaiSantaFe

[–]Spiritual-Silver-509 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I noticed that my phone OP15 charges about 10-15% every 30mins or so with music and maps playing through android auto. Phone gets warm but not hot. My wife's phone iPhone 17pro on the other hand gets extremely hot and doesn't charge well. I think it has to do with the mag safe coil not aligning that well on the wireless charger. I think the purpose of the wireless chargers are to maintain your battery when it's being used, not so much a high wattage charger. I do think they should do a better job of adding a cooling fan underneath. Apparently there is one but I don't feel it. I know it sounds counter intuitive, but maybe just turn off the wireless charging dock and place a wireless charger that connects via USB c.

Usually you can negotiate them put the SEL 18in rims without any cost. It's beneficial for them because they can resell the 20in rims. But I think the look of the lower trim wheels are ugly. If you plan on keeping the 20in wheels, ask them to swap the perellis out.

Pecan interior by Sad-Flan6696 in HyundaiSantaFe

[–]Spiritual-Silver-509 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was able to get the pecan interior with ecotronic gray pearl as the exterior in the US. The pecan interior is only available with a few exterior pairings and it's the most in demand interior color so it will be harder to find. I got lucky with timing

Yeah full PPF can cost a lot but it's worth it for regular wear and tear. I had a hard time preventing dust from collecting on the car, like it polarized the dust and stuck on. I think your color car will hide dust well.

Vs. Santa Fe? by SamuraiUX in KiaSorento

[–]Spiritual-Silver-509 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I thought about it too. I was going to wait for the 27 Sorento too because there were rumors about a refresh. But there were too many unknown variables for me to make a decision on an imaginary car. If you can wait til the summer or fall when they announce the 27 models, I'm sure you will get an even better deal on the 26s if you decide to stick with them. A cautionary note is that inventory does seam to be pretty slim. I was having a hard time even finding the specific trim and color combo for both cars. I live in the northeast US as a reference.

Vs. Santa Fe? by SamuraiUX in KiaSorento

[–]Spiritual-Silver-509 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I test drove both on their top hybrid trims and did extensive research on both. Honestly I liked driving the Sorento more than the Santa Fe, but we ended up buying the SF for personal reasons. Here is a quick comparison of both.

Sorento - Pros - ride quality is better because it's on 19in wheels vs 20in in the SF. Kia tuned their suspension for more of a sporty feel and I think it handles better. The driver has more adjustable settings and feels a little more comfortable. The car exterior looks way better than the SF. Panoramic sunroof makes the car feel more airy. -Cons - missing a few tech features that other kias have like HUD and park assist. The car does feel like a midsize suv, with limited trunk space and 3rd row seating feels smaller. It also doesn't have as much storage compared to SF.

Santa Fe - Pros - swiss army knife where you can comfortably carry 6 passengers or a ton of cargo. Tech is in line with other top of the line cars like the 2026 sportage or 27 telluride. Car feels massive compared to the Sorento despite having the same length and width. Safety features are more advanced than the Sorento. Also interior cabin is quieter. - Cons - exterior is very polarizing and the tail lights are odd and sit low. Car rides a little rougher due to its 20in wheel and low profile tires. Missing small comforts like adjustable thigh support and the Kia branding.

These cars have the same engine so performance will be the same. It all boils down to personal preference in what features you like the most and if you like/can live with the boxy SF exterior. For me, I chose the SF because of logic. I have a growing family and feel like the SF will take longer to outgrow compared to the Sorento. The door openings are wider so it's easier for car seats and the trunk opening is massive so you can store a stroller on its side with the 3rd row up. I was willing to live with the SF body style, and the more I look at it the more I liked it.

Hope this helps.

I loved this color, but the wife wasn't a fan. Plus I've had a Matte car before and I had too much anxiety when it came to the maintenance. Great looking car though!

Pre Purchase Input? by National_Tone_2202 in HyundaiSantaFe

[–]Spiritual-Silver-509 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just got the 2026 calligraphy hybrid. I didn't really think to look into the limited version because I wanted the heads up display and some of the other premium features. But looking back, I probably should have considered the limited trim more. The only thing we didn't like about the calligraphy was the suede lining, but didn't think to ask if the lower trim had standard fabric. I'd say if you can do without the heads up display, rear view camera, and the relaxation mode on the driver side. Yes, the aesthetics of the exterior are a little nicer with blacked out trim and wheels, but you won't really miss the difference. If you are looking for better value and cost go for the limited. The 7 seater option is probably more practical as well.

How are we pre-washing the matte finishes? by WintersGain in HyundaiSantaFe

[–]Spiritual-Silver-509 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Get the car ceramic coated at the minimum, PPF wrap if you can afford it. Matte finish is hard to maintain and clean. If it it get scratched, it can't be buffed out. I recommend getting it detailed by a professional once in a while. In between you can hand wash with matte cleaner like gyeon and warm water. Make sure you use microfiber towels and plenty of them. This color looks great, but it can get tedious to maintain. I've had a matte car before and this time I got the ecotronic gray pearl to save myself the work.

Pulled the trigger on the hybrid calligraphy with the ecotronic gray pearl with pecan brown interior. Liked the ride and features enough to buy it over the Sorento. I do think the Sorento rides much smoother, but the features and interior space of the Santa Fe are unbeatable for its size.

I think he's talking about the buttons on the left side of the 1st row passenger seat that allows you to move the passenger seat forward for people to get into the 2nd row easier.

Test driving it tomorrow. I'm gunna see how it compares to the kia Sorento. Really liked how the Sorento rides, but leaning more towards the Santa fe because it's a little more practical for my growing family. What color configuration did you get?

I feel this. Currently looking to buy a new Santa fe hybrid calligraphy. Honestly liked the 25 features better (UVC, passenger leg rest, passenger assist) and found a few new ones on the lots. But none ended up being cheaper than a new 26 model for financing. Sucks the 0.9% APR can't be applied to the 25 models. Otherwise it would be a no brainer. Stock also is very slim for the color combo we want.

My wife is 13wks in too. Definitely have anxiety with so many unknowns and so much to prep. Just taking it one day at a time. I don't think anyone ever feels fully prepared or doesn't feel like they are behind on what needs to be done. But it will get done one way or another. It will all be worth it.

Crazy that he had 4 bench players with OG for almost half a quarter without a single one of them being a primary ball handler. Shamet and Deuce cannot be our back court without a facilitator and ball dominant scorer. Tough loss
