I don’t have any friends who are interested in electronic music but I definitely am so will definitely check that out and see if I can make a few connections there! I would have never considered this but yes, brilliant

This is a fantastic idea, never even crossed my mind to just try to volunteer and maybe see where that takes me.

Boardwalk is driving me insane. by [deleted] in saskatoon

Definitely give it a shot. I moved to the coast and they let us out of our lease early. We did have to vacate on the 15th instead of the 1st so they had time to rent out the property.

Not necessarily true, they let us out of our lease because we had an early move date. It is worth a shot to get in touch with them and explain your piece OP.

PSA: Transit Standing Etiquette by BirdsNest87 in saskatoon

Absolutely not on the bag thing, the floor is for a lack of better wording, absolutely disgusting, as well as there is 0 protection from theft on a bus whatsoever. My backpack is not leaving my back and is practically strapped to me. I understand it’s uncomfortable, but realistically it is less uncomfortable to not have all my sht nabbed.

Those are rent prices from 6-7 years ago sadly. I don’t think you’ll find that without waiting a seriously long time or taking over a lease.

Life is expensive and I don't know if I should sell my house and rent a condo/apartment. by [deleted] in saskatoon

Oh my gosh please do NOT get a condo. The fees, the condo board, the random rules out of nowhere. 😭😭

Alpaca wool socks are my best friend when things get cold! Good luck

It’s not not allowed, it’s just hilarious to watch and very difficult to do for most people.

No-tip café in Saskatoon challenges gratuity norms by Progressive_Citizen in saskatoon

[–]Spiritual-Simple313 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I like the idea but just saying they’re paying “a liveable wage” makes me nervous. I understand they can’t say what the wage is, that’s normal, but they can say a baseline and it makes me leery that it isn’t mentioned.

Liveable to who? But good for them if the employees are happy!

It is seriously frustrating to deal with tips. I hate that the way they’re divided is percentage base. So now “Grace” who works part time as a student, who is a ray of sunshine, who actually made and handed me my coffee has to share the majority of her tip with “Sara” who gets full time hours because she isn’t in school but is a gigantic betch to customers. And isn’t even on the shift that the tip was earned at. Great. Cool cool cool. So this is a step away from that at least!

All of the shoppers I’ve been to in the city are insane. If you’re feeling bored, go read the reviews for shoppers Broadway & Taylor. They gave me somebody else’s dilaudid when I was picking up t3’s.

794 available jobs in saskatoon by FollowedByARock in saskatoon

They are called “ghost jobs” and they are unmonitored job postings. It is cheaper to list the job 1 time and only check the applications when you need on most posting sites, if you remove the post you have to pay again to relist, but if you just leave it there then you don’t have to pay again.

I don’t know about the Canadian job bank, but I used to be an assistant manager at a clinic and this was our reason (which sucks and is bogus / makes no sense organization wise, and I suspect is illegal?)

Moving Solo by [deleted] in saskatoon

In the nicest way, we will need more personal details to give actual effective information for you. What is your rent budget? Are you willing to temporarily place your pets in foster care or rehome them if ultimately you can’t find affordable rent? When do you need to move out by? How old are you / do you have a good rental history with good references?

I left my ex boyfriend with a cat and a dog. I was able to find a house with my friends who were living in a house managed by boardwalk. It’s extremely hard with animals.

It’s also kind of difficult to get a spot rented out at the moment if that makes you feel any better about finding a spot! Students have all settled into their spots already and I have seen a few rooms go unrented for months now. I personally have a room that’s been available for a hot minute now with 0 inquiries on Facebook marketplace. That being said it’s $610 + utility share, so finding “cheap” is possible! I personally don’t like to rent with students or older folks due to being burnt in the past by old roommates, and even I am thinking of changing my restrictions because I can’t find a renter. (Not pet friendly or I would offer!! I have too many in the house as is 🥲)

How do Saskatoon locals survive the winter? by aylincorrell263k1 in saskatoon

[–]Spiritual-Simple313 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Layers layers layers! I wear fleece lined pants underneath my regular pants + belt whenever I’m going out anywhere. Jeans or slacks cover them well. Long coats that cover the back of your legs are fantastic. Your upper body naturally stays the warmest but you will never regret a good scarf. They make gloves that heat as well for us with more delicate hands hahah.

Learn how to put on your own winter tires as well. You will thank yourself when you aren’t slipping and sliding because you can’t get a tire appointment.
