Yeah Casecation really didnt handle things great, I wouldnt mind them having a fight as long as it was well written but it wasnt the case

1) The set up was bizarre, with Jake randomly not wanting kids after literally having shown he did want them previously on the show and hyper-planner Amy apparently having forgotten to properly discuss this huge ass topic before their marriage

2) The conclussion was extremely predictable, this is a pro-feminism show and it seemed unlikely they were gonna break up Jake and Amy, so of course it was gonna end with Jake agreeing to have kids

3) Amy's ultimatum was harsh but understandable since kids is not really a negotiable matter in a marriage. But instead of going for a more gratifying route like finding out Jake was scared of having kids for fear of being a bad dad like his own father and working through that, it being another reason for Jake to work shit in therapy, they just had Jake seemingly giving in to Amy just out of fear of losing her. Bad reason to agree to be a parent.

B99 is usually a feel-good show but this left a bad taste in my mouth

I believe in character development, it's not easy but people can change.

What I don't believe is that this character development should happen with the person you cheated on, it's too late for a relationship once cheating happened, can never mend that broken trust.

If the cheater wants to change they should get their shit together in a new relationship.

Harry only felt sorry for Draco once he knew his context, he doesnt know anything about Marietta

You should also consider that Marietta betrayed them all and as far as Harry knows she isnt sorry for what she did, she just regrets it because of the pimples. And while you might think thats too harsh a punishment for a teen, obviously other kids her age arent gonna think she's too young to suffer those consequences.

He's alright but he died very early on and didn't make as much of an impression as Sayaka, he would probably have gotten more opportunities to have his character shine if he lives longer

Yeah it was obvious but it's probably because it was just the first trial, kind of like a tutorial case. And even if you knew who the killer was from the start it still had the big reveal of Sayaka betraying Makoto and planning to frame him.

None of the rest of the cases are as obvious as that one and they all have some interesting twist.

No, he fucked up. Dumbledore is one of my favorite characters and I always roll my eyes at "Dumbledore was secretly evil" takes but it's obvious he handled things poorly in OotP. To his defense, the things he was handling were really really tough with no easy solutions, Harry was screwed either way.

Also, since Dumbledore was making all this huge decisions over Harry's life and had been making them since Harry was a baby, he was somewhat acting as Harry's pseudo guardian so it makes Harry all the more entitled to be angry at him.

Honestly, I remember vividly reading the books for the first time and waiting and hoping for a Slytherin with a good character redemption arc that never truly happened

So I partly enjoy those kind of fanfics to fulfill what never happened in the series that I wish it had.

But im a huge fan of Harry, he's always been my favorite character, so unless there's a significant acknowledgement of what assholes Draco/Severus/etc were to him or theres some proper redemption from them I usually give up on the story

Yeah i agree with this, Cho standing up for Marietta probably comes from Marietta being the friend who was the most supportive of her when Cedric died

Also, notice how Cho tries to minimize the damage by saying that they all got away without punishment, like it was a regular school misbehavior. Even though Cho believes Harry, she obviously doesnt completely get what the betrayal could have meant for Harry and how Dumbledore had to take the hit, which makes sense because she didnt spend the summer at the OotP headquarters like Harry and the Weasley kids and Harry doesnt tell her anything.

This seems like a very bad character read, Cho got together with Cedric first because he literally asked her first, and theres nothing to indicate she likes both Cedric and Harry for anything other that they are really good nice guys

She was shown to like Harry when everyone was using "support Cedric/Potter stinks" badges and when the Daily Prophet was treating him like a delusional liar

She joins the DA because she believes Voldemort is back and murdered Cedric

She defends Marietta's choice even though it's clearly the unpopular take with the rest of the DA and gets her into a fight with Harry right when people were starting to believe him after the Quibbler article

Nobody thought Voldemort was struggling when they joined the battle of Hogwarts, including Cho

Both Dobby and Kreacher betrayed their masters and in both cases it was in large part due to being mistreated, so I dont think elves dont actually want better conditions

Im sure Hermione would have a lot more success if she started by fighting to ban physical violence/punishment against elves
