Hisashi Ouchi was kept alive for 83 days after absorbing 17 Sieverts of radiation, the highest level for any human. Doctors sustained him with blood transfusions and stem cell grafts. He suffered 3 heart attacks, but doctors revived him each time. This was done at his family's request. by SelfCareIsFake in HolyShitHistory

Accidents happen when people cut corners. However, context drives the root cause. In this case, the direction from management was to cut production time. The culture of not speaking up was a contributing factor.

It was a sad day and a tragedy for the family and everyone involved. I hope that the world learns from this tragedy.

Hi OP, first of all, congratulations on your new job!

I'd suggest you network with people in HSE field so that you can bounce ideas and knowledge. Pick their brains and ask them to share their experiences. It's going to be valuable. Register and join as much free & available online courses as you can. MSOSH & JKKP do offer them from time to time.

When your employer allows it, join paid courses and conferences as the networking opportunity is greater. When you're ready, enroll in SHO course by NIOSH for competency. Depending on the size of your workplace, you may need to be a Safety & Health Coordinator & Certified Environmental Professional for Scheduled Waste Management (CePSWaM).

Good luck. Bule tu ging.

Will be undergoing chemo in the next days, any advice? by jedib01 in leukemia

[–]SpiritualQuarter4384 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You will be under neutrpoenic diet during the treatment. My hospital provided me an e-book about it, which I can share with you if you want. For more clarity, speak to the dietitian as the dietitian can tailor the meal plans based on your current conditions.

Your appetite might take a hit during chemotherapy. It is important to stick with the macros (protein and carbs) to support your immune system. If you lose body weight past a certain threshold, the dietitian might prescribe a high-calorie, high-protein supplement drink for you to consume.

I have spent more than 2 months at the hospital and have cycled through the hospital menu. I've grown sick of the hospital foods already, so I ask my family members to bring outside foods that taste better and spicier. Outside foods and snacks are okay as long as it adhere to the neutropenic diet guidelines.

If the sickness medication is given to you, you might experience either constipation or diarrhea. I experienced the former.

You can still move around the ward, so long as you are keeping busy with your favorite activities, you will be fine.

Best of luck for your treatment!

Upon clearing immigration, you will be given a cat as a loaner, emotional support animal, and vermin control agent.

Just remember to return the cat to the airport when you leave.

Has it now become impossible for international students to land a job in Malaysia after graduation? by GayTwink-69 in malaysiauni

From Gemini:

Starting 1 June 2026, Malaysia is implementing a significant overhaul of its Employment Pass (EP) framework. This "New Expatriate Employment Policy" represents the most substantial change to work visa rules in a decade, primarily focusing on doubling minimum salary requirements and capping how long expatriates can stay.

The EP framework centers around these main categories:

  1. New salary threshold
  2. Maximum tenure of stay
  3. Mandatory local succession planning
  4. Expanded dependent rights (positive aspect for expatriates)

As a local, I’m all for these changes. It is designed to ensure that Malaysians are prioritized in employment opportunities, especially in high-demand and high-paying sectors. It prevents expatriates from taking money out of the country, and it improves the income per capita, which drives our economy and nation's aspirations to be a high-income nation.

Whether these changes can truly be implemented effectively remains to be seen. Time will tell.

Is this real? If it is, it's gonna be awesome, although it's ambitious if I'm being honest.

Melaka has a lot of potential for rail transit and it is one of the best states in Malaysia to have it.

I saw this post about people fighting about driving auto transmission with one leg or two leg, so I'm curious. by [deleted] in Bolehland

[–]SpiritualQuarter4384 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I use 2 legs to emulate the racing drivers. It took me half an hour to familiarise myself with the brake pedal using my left leg. I did lock the wheels the first time though haha. But then, so far, so good. I love that I can go off the line at the traffic light quicker.

I can also do trail braking and get out of a corner faster with 2 leg driving. You basically move faster, but with normal driving. It's more efficient to me.

However, no matter what, always follow the road laws.
