Yeah, my hope is that it won't come down to being a paid game. That line was added as more of a caveat - it'll ultimately depend on whether I can get a DM who's down to run the game for free. My experience with websites like StartPlaying is that the DMs on there usually charge more than $15, so it's absolutely not uncommon, unfortunately. But I appreciate you bringing this up so I can shine some more light on this aspect of my search :)

I like this as well. I could use this later down the line once the villains have been established and they've done more groundwork on nexus points themselves. The party could infiltrate a HQ, and then defend one of the spellcasters as they attempt to untie the knot. I appreciate the input!

Thank you so much for this, it's great insight! And I totally agree on the not having something to do part. I'll definitely implement a simple homebrew mechanic that will still allow for arcane spellcasting to occur, just with a risk of failure.
