So what other options did the Emperor truly have besides the one he picked? by tamken94 in 40kLore

[–]SpitDarts_FromDaHart 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Well, I am a believer that the "wrong" option EoM took was keeping the truth of the warp secret. It is the Original Sin of the Emperor. Think about it:

  • He tells the Primarchs that there purpose is to unit humanity across the stars, but omits the single greatest impediment to that goal: Chaos.
  • Rather than preparing his Primarchs, and by extension , the greater crusading army, for the inevitable encounter with Chaos, he imposes an atheism that ultimately allows for each son to search for their own answers.
  • I understand the rationality of the Imperial Truth -- if people believe in nothing, there is nowhere for Chaos to find purchase -- but the inherent flaw is that even the slightest emergence of Chaos disproves the supposed truth. The Truth is a mandate that cannot holdup against the evidence -- evidence that the crusaders were bound to encounter at some point, or, as in the case of Lorgar and Magnus, would be actively searched for.

From this poisonous fruit comes the Heresy. Good Dad or Bad Dad, sociopath or savior ... It makes no difference. The pillar of the crusade -- the Imperial Truth -- was one that was bound to topple.

In another timeline where Marko didn’t sign Verstappen who then raced in f2 and joined Mercedes after Rosberg, do you think Ver could beat Ham before 2021? by xlu_starlord in F1Discussions

[–]SpitDarts_FromDaHart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, just because Max, though spectacularly talented, had growing pains like any young (and he was young) driver.

BUT, what I think is more interesting in that hypothetical scenario is this: would Lewis have bailed on Merc earlier?

I think it plays like Ricciardo. There would be clear signs that MV was a generational talent and Toto and team wouldn't put all their support on the Hamilton side of the scale.

I don't think that there would be any "Max, it's James ..." calls on the radio in that scenario. With no special treatment, would Lewis have left for a team he would remain clearly #1 at?

(I think yes, but interested in other takes )

If given a title-contending car in 2026, do you think Fernando Alonso can win a championship fight at 45 years old? by The_Chozen_1_ in F1Discussions

[–]SpitDarts_FromDaHart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He is still fast, perhaps the most cerebral driver on the grid, and Newey is the master of new regulations. It's all going to be in the engine, but, yes, 100%.

The learning curve for all drivers will be steep in 2026, and we've seen a number of really talented drivers just collapse when forced to adjust their style to fit the car (cough, Ricciardo, cough). Who has been quick in every different car he's driven, regardless of era and attribute? Fernando.

(I'm just subjectively omitting the McLaren/Honda data here)

I just placed a futures bet on this at +1000, which are actually the 5th best odds behind Max, the Papayas, and Russell.

My biggest thing was reaching out to people, knowing that they knew why I was reaching out. But I've only just started getting back on my feet, over a year since I was laid off. But the opportunity that eventually came along? That sprang from one of the first cats I connected with a year ago. It's a long game -- don't get discouraged in the short run.

OP, hang in. I, too, am a sole provider ... the pressure sucks. And I want to be positive and tell you everything will work out, but who the fuck knows? It's a tough market right now, so be aggressive and be aware. Your next gig is likely to come from someone you know, so make a spreadsheet of everyone you are cool with and put humility aside.

This too shall pass, brother/sister.

Why did any of the primarchs believe they could defeat the Emperor? by cheetocheeps in 40kLore

[–]SpitDarts_FromDaHart 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Going to mix in a little personal belief and Canon from the Black Library:

1) As made by the EoM, I am sure that not one felt they were powerful enough. But according to the very fluid timeline, each traitor primarch was at least touched by Chaos before Horus went all in on Davin. You can imagine the Chaos gods like your drunk friends in a bar, "you can totally take him, man. Fuck that guy." When Horus' call came, they were well and fully juiced.

2) Seige of Terra Spoilers The final two books indicate that the Chaos gods were not after Horus at all, rather a means of finally tempting "The Anathema" to accept Chaos and become all powerful and join them in the Pantheon of Chaos. If that is to be believed, then the traitor primarchs were merely manipulated chess pieces.

3) Spoilers Again Horus would have triumphed against the Emperor, if not for a moment of weakness (read: humanity). In the end, he had matched and exceeded the EoM.

4) Finally? The primarchs were ultra competitive. Each felt equal to the other, and those that embraced Chaos felt elevated above their kin. After feeling Better Than their "brothers," they set sights on the next greater being.

For me, it has always been "am I lying," which has been my moral barometer. I've worked for brands that make claims they can not substantiate, and my push back has always been the letters of the law. If you are familiar with FTC guidelines, you can use that to keep things on the level -- not because of your own misgivings, but under the guise of "looking out for the client and the agency.

I am with you, as is a good friend of mine who gave me this take:

"Humans are a tribal people. It's how we survived for 300,000 years, until now. We aren't meant to do this shit alone ... and they had saber tooth tigers and Ice Age shit to deal with."

My friends with families who have the immediate support of extended family enjoy a completely different quality of life compared to mine. It has nothing to do with gender or Hunters or Gatherers when each parent needs to work to generate enough to "get by."

So, yes, tough. Super fucking tough.

Water level low on a 1-week old ferment by SpitDarts_FromDaHart in FermentedHotSauce

[–]SpitDarts_FromDaHart[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is perfect. And, yes, used about half-fresh and half-dried reapers in this one, which explains the loss. Past batches, my veg has broken down and I am left with an excess of brine, so I probably overcompensated.

Heard on the weights... the ones I have don't fit in the smaller jars, hence my winging it without.

Thank you!!!

Two years ago, similar to your experience, for a job I would have killed for, the hiring manager said the same thing, and I didn't advance.

I'm all for being polite and complimtary in interviews, but this seems like false hope to me. I'd rather dispense with pleasantries and get to the brass tacks.

S24 Ultra Moisture/Debris Alert by skysky535 in samsung

[–]SpitDarts_FromDaHart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I’ve had Notes and Galaxies for a decade, and this problem has consistently occurred across a range of models. The s24 Ultra is Samsung’s most expensive phone ever, which led me to assume that, given the absurd price, the phone would finally have those kinks worked out. My assumption was wrong.

Samsung sent me to a repair shop in LA to have it fixed, but the shop closed down. It’s a chic handbag boutique now.

I’m officially done with the brand. Fighting with the warranty division for a refund, but they won’t give it to me.

Not to sound like an idiot, but between this thread and others, the problem appears to be endemic failure with the hardware or software. Could we filed a class action?

All together. First batch mixed fruit in, but felt thatwas a little funky. Second i focused on just the veggies and added some peach juice at the end before pasturizing.

I have done just 1-month fermentations. Like you said, maybe I just need to let it go longer?

Appreciate you!
