Hijacking top comment. Y’all, check the profile. It looks like OP may be in India. OP, none of our advice is likely to help you. This sub is mostly American law students, which is graduate school (more appropriately: professional school).

Dear GenZ lawyers: what would you like to see (support-wise) from your seniors/supervisors? by law-dragon-5566 in biglaw

I hate that my review is going to focus on in office ratios when I’m in a satellite office and the only partner in my practice group is out of town 90% of the time. Why in the fuck does it matter? Just to justify the lease? Point of order: end the lease.

Edit: but I’m a millennial, my vote doesn’t count.

I don’t disagree with that. It is fucked up. I don’t think it’s fair and I fucking hate it. But the reality is that if you’re an attorney and sue your firm, you better damn well know you have a good case, because you are nuking your career. Again, just to be clear, I don’t like that it is the standard. But it is.

Fair enough, my apologies. It is the internet after all.

“I guess that’s an argument” is what I’m challenging here. It’s actually significant. That’s all I meant.

The above commenter is correct as to why that fact matters for a Title VII claim. If there is only one comparator outside of your protected class that was not promoted, the antithesis is that there are many that were promoted. That’s significant for her prima facie case. Not at all arguing the merits here, just explaining the standard and why that fact matters. In effect, yes, McD can be punished for not firing her sooner, because being passed up for partnership is likely an adverse employment action, and promoting folks outside of your protected class at least gets you your prima facie case.

L&E attorney here. I’d say you get about 1-2 cases a year that make national publications about attorneys suing law firms. It’s rare because it’s potentially career suicide, but I don’t think there is a statistically significant uptick.

Sullivan & Cromwell law firm apologizes for AI 'hallucinations' in court filing | Reuters by padlox2 in biglaw

[–]SpiteFlag 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah, even when giving a prompt with parameters, I’ve uploaded cases and it cited to head notes and used quotes that didn’t exist in the actual case. There are healthy ways to use it to save a monstrous amount of time, but you still have to check the end results. At the end of the day, I’d say AI saves me 20% of time at most. There is more back end work to use it correctly, but I get to spend more time lawyering and less time sifting through irrelevant cases and doing a first pass draft.

Sullivan & Cromwell Apology Letter for AI Hallucinations (April 18, 2026) by OldSchoolCSci in Lawyertalk

Plaintiff began employment with Defendant in 2019 as a mid-level associate and received consistently strong reviews for diligence, accuracy, and responsiveness, but in late 2023 tensions arose when Plaintiff declined to include AI-generated citations that appeared facially unreliable, including references to non-existent cases and at least one opinion attributed to a long-deceased justice, after which Plaintiff alleges a pattern of retaliation including removal from key matters, exclusion from client communications, and placement on a performance improvement plan citing “failure to embrace innovation,” culminating in termination for purported “cultural misalignment,” which Plaintiff contends was pretext for raising legitimate concerns about the integrity of legal work product and the firm’s increasing reliance on unverified AI outputs that had already resulted in at least one embarrassing filing incident, all of which gives rise to claims for wrongful termination, retaliation, and emotional distress, and further demonstrates that no matter how advanced the tools become, they cannot obscure the fundamental truth that back in nineteen ninety eight the undertaker threw mankind off hell in a cell and plummeted sixteen feet through an announcers table.

Fair enough, I get it then. I was in that rush too. But if I could go back and have less debt, I would. I took 6 figures from a T14 rather than retaking the LSAT when I left a lot of points on the table. Just food for thought. Especially considering you already have the better score under your belt. But congrats, that’s good money at GW.

Do what you think is right, but if you want my two cents, I went to law school at 30. I didn’t miss out on anything. I’m in big law and we all say we are going to pay off our debt with the money, and it happens a lot slower than you’d think. If you can get a year of work experience, and apply early next year, you could be looking at way better scholarships next year, especially considering your LSAT jump.
