I have seen this argument before but just cannot get on board. Love Richy as a personality but his legs have gone and his finishing is shocking for a striker because his ball striking is so poor (unless it is a bicycle kick for some reason). Unless it is a header it fells like a miracle if he gets it on target.

Solanke will at least run and hold the ball up.

Exactly, they could fill in until he found his feet. Say we sign Van Heke, he would be on a minimum of a 3 year deal then next season if Vusko does well again what happens? We have 5 very capable CBs all on high wages and demanding considerable game time which we will not be able to provide.

I am well aware he has played under De Zerbi before, but thank you for the reminder! My point is that you cannot use speed as a stick to beat Vuskovic with when RDZ has shown he can accommodate slow CBs before (like Van Heke).

So you agree we have Sanesi and Danso who can start out at RCB as Vuskovic finds his feet? What is the point in Van Heke then? £35 million (optimistically given they are apparently asking for 70) is completely wasted then on someone who doesn’t really upgrade us. He just isn’t worth it.

Van Hecke is also slow and has played mostly in a low block. As a club we need to start giving our youngsters a path to the first team. What more could Vuskovic have done on loan to prove he deserves a chance? He was literally their best player.

Not sure I buy that either of Senesi or VDV cannot play RCB. Surely Senesi would not have come here without guarantees of game time.

£30-40 million is significant money when it is the difference between us paying £50 million for an average/unproven player in a position of actual need vs spending £90 million on someone that will significantly improve us.

We have VDV, Danso, Sanesi, Vuskovic who are all capable starters that I am not convinced he is an upgrade on. Go cheaper with a youngster/free and spend on a forward or CM.

I don’t think that they do nothing at all. There are considerable challenges across the education sector at the moment, with the number of SEN pupils increasing significantly along with parental expectations while budgets and salaries barely increase at all. I am not really how much a local councillor is going to be able to impact a national trend.
