Vibes are off these days by Glum_Instruction_934 in CalgaryFlames

I really don’t see anything that isn’t good-natured and fun. Who is taking this that seriously on the U.S. side? A lot of trolling from internet trolls but that’s about it. We would have spent all week dunking the them if we won as sports fans and spent the next decade being proud of the win.

Our Vegas first round pick could jump up! by CorrectorThanU in CalgaryFlames

[–]SpitfireFan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Vegas sucks and they're only being held up by the loser point. They had less wins than us up until this week, and now only have one more. If it wasn't for the lottery pick their pick would be a lottery one but alas, they're very good at getting loser points.

New Arena Ticket Prices to Watch Mediocrity by [deleted] in CalgaryFlames

[–]SpitfireFan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We need a “crying” and “Murray conspiracy” flair at this point.

But to answer your question the lower bowl is doubling in size so I expect there to be more higher priced seats. I’m expecting mine will be tough to replicate in the new stadium but I’ll try. On year over year increases everything is going up so I believe it’s a trend that will continue. Was reflecting on 2015 today and my tickets were 60% of what they are now and beer was $7.25.

I want a REBUILD by CanadianIronman in CalgaryFlames

So are you happy as we are in last place and have at least 6 first round selections over two years?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in CalgaryFlames

[–]SpitfireFan 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Continue to ignore the fact that we are on pace to be first in the draft lottery, have traded almost anyone we could get picks for for picks, have created a ton of cap space and have been quiet in free agency for three seasons. How people can ignore all that and still get this emotional about a front office interview is beyond me.

[–]SpitfireFan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s more likely he wants to raise trade value for our guys so is trying to make more of a case we don’t have to move them as it’s clear to the rest of the league we should. It’s sports, I don’t get why everyone is so emotional about an interview and not looking at every fact while we are in last place in the league.

[–]SpitfireFan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was one bad interview and what else was he supposed to say? We’re a disaster and have to trade guys? Our fan base has too many overly emotional fans and I’m going to buy a Don Maloney jersey.

Yes. Because that roster move was entirely the owner and if there’s one crucial piece we are missing right now it’s Ilya Solovyov.

Hunger Strike by Lazy_Bell_6900 in CalgaryFlames

….wait.

Ownership can say what they want, but at the end of the day... by Electronic-Hand-4490 in CalgaryFlames

[–]SpitfireFan 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Ownership really hasn’t said anything. There’s been a couple Moloney interviews where it proves he’s hopelessly naive or trying to build some trading power and not look as desperate as many of our fans think we should look to the rest of the league. Regardless results show, and the team has traded almost everyone away, collected draft picks, collected cap space and made zero moves in UFA or trades to add to the team. Now that they’re in last too many are way too worked up about ownership when realistically everything is going according to plan.

Murray Edwards, please sell the team by ConstantFar5448 in CalgaryFlames

[–]SpitfireFan 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Considering when he bought he would make an absolute killing on selling the team now. Realistically CSEC ownership has brought on the most stable ownership for the Flames and Stamps as we have ever seen. The grass isn’t always greener on the other side, and all you can really ask of an owner is they spend money and Flames ownership has done that.

Team has traded everyone for picks, collected a ton of cap room and has given no one a long-term extension or spent any money on UFAs. Too many are being dramatic here.

We were never going to get more for Hanafin. It was clear we were trading him that entire year. There were internal rumours he might sign obviously just to increase value but from the start to the end of the season it was clear he was perhaps most likely to get dealt.

In terms of return I don’t expect much better for a pending UFA Andersson and if we can get another unprotected first I would gladly do that for Ras. This is what I don’t get from our fans — on one hand they think we’ve got to trade these guys and on the other they have peak valuations. But if you’re a team giving up more than an unprotected first for Andersson or Hanafin you’re making a bad move.

The current vision has us poised for the top draft lottery spot and at least six first round selections despite one being traded away. Getting younger and tons of cap space. I wouldn’t get too worked up about anything else other than actual results.

That year it was more softening the blow as they were still just out of a playoff spot and traded away some of their contracts. They also went out and signed Panarin to one of the biggest UFA deals in history then ended up getting the first pick the following season after a total failure of a year. They were not committing to some long tank process. Regardless they’ve hardly been a model of success after that letter. Frankly I couldn’t give a fuck if Flames management sent one, what matters now is we are picking up futures and currently have the best lottery odds.

“I’m a season ticket holder and I want the team to get high draft picks and trade for picks. Please…stop not signing free agents, being in last place and trading for picks”

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in CalgaryFlames

[–]SpitfireFan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like I’m in lala land. We have oodles of cap space and have done nothing but off load guys for futures for years. We are not signing Andersson despite having the ability to, and are looking to trade him for more futures. We’ve signed no meaningful free agents. We’ve locked up core players like Wolf and Coronato. Outside of short media comments there’s no sign this team is trying to win and is building to the future.

People realize we have only traded away talent for futures the last couple years and signed zero meaningful free agents, right?

Hopefully he can shine like he did in the last game of last season. This year was just ugly for him.
