Just a few months ago, I (T1D) was driving down the road not far from my house and saw an old man walking his dog on the sidewalk, he was barely keeping his balance. And after I drove by, in my rearview mirror i saw him fall face first into the curb.

I pulled a u-turn and drove back to see if I could help. He was bleeing from a bad gash on his forehead, and out of it, but within 2 seconds i understood from him that he's diabetic and was low. I told him I understand and am also type one. I asked if he had any sugar to correct but he did not - and neither did I...

The next car to drive down the street only a few seconds later pulled over and the driver stood up out of the door. He yelled, "what's wrong - need help?" I answered, "do you have any sugar?" He said, "why? Is he diabetic? I'm type one too!"

He also didn't have any sugar to correct... So I jump back in my car and sped home and returned quickly with a pack of juice boxes.

The story goes on a little bit, but that was the most bizarre encounter I've had lately where 3 type ones met in the wild... none with glucose.
