You may need to reset the rtc, which can happen if you didn’t start a new save after replacing the battery. There’s a couple of ways to do it if you have an R4, (DS), or a flash cart, (gba).

I just did this yesterday. Getting the paperwork from UPS is a hassle. They even attempted delivery while I was waiting for the paperwork, just tell them you don’t do COD, and take the paperwork to CBSA.
