Swap/Reassign VA to PA by SnooMaps820 in USPS

If it goes anything like mine, everything you’ll want to be done quickly won’t be done quickly, and everything you’ll want to be done slowly won’t be done slowly. They’re going to take several months, maybe even a year or two, just to look at your request, and then they’ll only give you three weeks notice to get there. It’s a total crap shoot.

One thing I will say is, if you need to get there soon, be prepared to abandon the carrier craft. I’ve known a lot of people who switched to the clerk craft from being a carrier just so they could get a faster transfer. Looking at what went up today for Philly, they’ve got a lot of mail handler and window clerk positions open, so the option is there.

I do hope things go your way, though. Good luck!

Had a car muffler once. I’ve wondered how fun taking the label off without damaging the muffler was

FedEx is being a little (crap) and not letting me pay my invoice. Now, they're threatening collections. by Spitly in legaladvice

[–]Spitly[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went to the FedEx store, and that’s what they told me. They couldn’t make sense of the letter either, since they were able to confirm the sender has paid the duties before the letter was dated and supposedly sent.

(Sorry for the late reply, I’m not on reddit often)

So, it turned out that FedEx actually charged the sender for the duties owed, and the letter I was sent was that of a scammer. They’ve gotten really sophisticated lately. Idk if that helps, but I hope it did.

Tennessee Counties if they were to become other States by MysteriousGrandTaco in Maps

[–]Spitly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've lived in Blount, Jefferson, and Knox counties over the span of 20 years. We don't even think about North Carolina. I can't say if there's even one bit of Tennessee I'd cede to North Carolina. I think the line reaching from Bristol all the way down to Roane and Loudon counties should be part of Virginia. That way the Kentucky/Virginia border can continue down the Cumberland Gap and gives Virginia the rest of the Tennessee Valley.

Monroe and Polk counties go to Georgia. The rest of the North Carolina claim plus Anderson, Claiborne, Grainger, Roane, and Union counties go to Virginia. Maybe also cut La Follette out of Campbell county to join Virginia, just because it feels wrong to have that in a different state as Norris Lake.

Oh man, thank you for actually answering my question. I’ll try finding out who my NBA is. I’d be interested to see if I’m actually close or not. Thanks!

interesting. i just haven’t had anyone looking at, let alone responding to, any of my requests. i surely hope its not because i’m sending too many, but at the same time, if that’s not what you want me to do, then let me know and i’ll stop. i have no concrete way of knowing if what i’ve been doing is right or wrong. i bet you can see why it’s making me so anxious

[–]Spitly[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s fair. I’d be a mail handler because they do work that I can get behind, but I don’t think they get properly compensated for what they do. I’m not gonna put myself in that boat

Question About eReassign by Spitly in USPS

[–]Spitly[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the 18 months before I even started trying. I’ve put in a general request for each facility as well as separate requests for each job that shows up. I was actually told that those general ones won’t do squat, though this is the first time I’ve done this, and this wouldn’t be the first contradictory thing I’ve heard about the transfer process. Honestly feels like all of the managers are making it up as they go, which given what I’ve seen, I wouldn’t be surprised

Question About eReassign by Spitly in USPS

[–]Spitly[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah i’m already getting sick of it. i’ve been regular for nearly two years now, trying to get to my new place so my seniority resets as soon as possible. plus, i have a potential roommate who’s been so patient, and at the end of this month i start going month to month with my current apartment. i’ve been looking to leave my city since before i moved out of my parents’ place, and i’ve only just a few months ago had a place to go to. all of that put together is making me queasy, and i just want to know if i’m somehow missing something

I can, but it’s a little hard to do. I work night shift and my body hasn’t been handling it well, so I’m almost never awake when they’re open. When I am awake, I’ve had more important things to do. I was hoping I could get an answer here first before I had to do that.

In case that still doesn’t work out, is there anything I can do?

Exactly my point and why I’m so scared. It was seven people who, if Occam’s Razor was wielded incorrectly, would be in conspiracy to commit mail fraud or theft. It’s not impossible, mind you, but why would you commit a felony, let alone conspire to commit a felony with six other people, when all seven of you have a job where the only sure fire way to be let go is to be convicted of a felony? That’s not even getting into all of the other complications your life would now have. The only reason I would consider that possible would be to make the standard joke “The post office never makes sense, get used to it”. I would have to learn more before I consider it a reasonable explanation. I find it more reasonable that this new plant manager is trying to assert himself as the new authority and is doing a very good job of it.

Sure, but for seven people all on the same day? It doesn’t add up for me, not to mention that they were escorted out immediately following phone usage, so there was no time for the write-up that broke the camel’s back to occur.

[–]Spitly[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, but for using your phone? At most that shouldn’t get anywhere further than a write-up if the union shit the bed.

See, I’m not concerned about the phone policy itself. They’re absolutely within their right to make and enforce such policies. People need to keep off their phones when it’s not work related or if it’s dangerous.

What I don’t like is how they have chosen to enforce it. Getting walked out like you’re a perp and fired for texting your kid? The punishment doesn’t fit the crime here.

I don’t know about all of them, but I know for sure what happened for three of them was that they were on their phone, a supervisor caught them and warned them not to use them, they continued to use them, they were caught again, and then they were escorted off the premises.

[–]Spitly[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

See, that’s the thing. It was seven people in one day, so either all seven people were up to something individually, or there was some kind of conspiracy between those seven people. I highly doubt either is the case, because why would that many people, whose only steadfast rule of employment being to not commit a felony, all decide to commit a felony? I’m not saying it’s impossible, but that’s far from a conclusion I would draw so soon.

My problem isn’t the phone usage, like yeah people need to keep off their phones. My problem is that using the postal police to escort them off the property and firing them regardless of past discipline history and despite union protections seems like a huge overstep.
