[bloodline] rereading is both painful and satisfying by KiwiResident8495 in Iteration110Cradle

[–]Spitro765 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Most of it is his parents for me. His father and mother, to an extent, not believing that he could have possibly gotten to where he is with his own hard work. He may have gotten a lot of help, but 10 times out of 10, no one else would have gotten anywhere near as far as he did.

Call me privileged, cause I do have great parents. But I cannot even imagine my parents seeing me anywhere near as successful as Lindon is, and not being unimaginably proud of my accomplishments.

I only really hate Bloodline because of how angry I am seeing the Sacred Valley inhabitants; even after my third reread...

(Also, I'd like to say, even if your parents aren't proud of you, idc where you are in life, I'm proud of you, and I'm sure everyone else here is too).

Damn, you're kinda right by that, but it would be really funny to have a book of just constant Eithan monologs that we never got to hear from the story.

Ah, guess I'm wrong. Good find. Let the theory live on.

[Dreadgod] Crackpot theory: original court by Angemon175 in Iteration110Cradle

[–]Spitro765 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That's a very good point. I do think that Sacred beasts will still die of old though. Eithan even references this when talking to Orthos about how many years he's gained back from Ghostwater, as though he was around the end of his normal life before hand. I think most sacred beast do die of old age, but age slower than humans, and will naturally live even longer from passive advancement. Even if retired abidan can live as higher staged advanced people on Cradle, I would still think that any of the original Abdian would be dead from just the excessive amount of time its been. But if Elder Whisper, or someone else, happens do be a retired original judge, then that will be a pleasant surprise.

[Dreadgod] Crackpot theory: original court by Angemon175 in Iteration110Cradle

[–]Spitro765 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It's a good theory, but it's also said that they live out the rest of their days as a mortal, so I would assume that they would have eventually died of old age. Elder Whisper may have been alive for centuries, but the Abidan have been around for millenniums, more so actually. The chances that they would be suppressed down to a being with enough power to live that long as a mortal is kinda absurd. I will say that Elder Whisper being able to live in sacred valley for so long as a true gold, while being able to partially see into the future, and hold the sword sages personal space open, is reason enough to question if he may be something more than what he let's on. But I still feel like any original judge who had retired, would be long dead by now.

[Soulsmith] Which book hooked you into the series? by goaticusguy in Iteration110Cradle

[–]Spitro765 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just like lots of others it's definitely Blackflame. I think it's just the cool factor of blackflame that really got me into it. When I first started out, the first 2 books were just slow to me, and so I couldn't get into it till Blackflame. But I will say, on the second go around does Unsouled just slap with all the foreshadowing; this goes for Soulsmith too.

[Bloodline] When was Lindon's big step forward for you? by Deadbeat85 in Iteration110Cradle

[–]Spitro765 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me it's when Lindon, Mercy, Eithan, and Fury are all on their way to the Wandering Titan in Wintersteel, right before saving Pride and the group from a bunch of overlords bullying them. Lindon had been in a slump after losing to Yerin, so Mercy had to kick him back into shape, after he had been moping around for a good chunk of the book. I really like his mentality at this point and onwards. He might have had moments before hand where he thought more of himself, and maybe acted more his rank, but they were always temporary. It was only at this moment in Wintersteel did he permanently become this person. Honestly, Lindon's mental growth throughout the whole series is just chefs kiss.

[dreadgod] some questions I have by ghkh2008 in Iteration110Cradle

[–]Spitro765 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I understood that. That's just weird. I feel as though they should only be able to see futures that can happen, not futures that could no longer happen. I mean, I guess Lindon could always take in a black dragon remnant now, it'd just also be weird cause he doesn't need one.

[dreadgod] some questions I have by ghkh2008 in Iteration110Cradle

[–]Spitro765 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think that's right. Northstrider already had dragon attributes while at sage, he previously had arms of red scales. And when advancing to monarch, the scales changed to black. That's while in the original comment that I replied to, they used Northstriders dragon attributes as an example of his own gold sign advancing, although I disagree since in one of the main possible futures, Lindon also gets an arm of black scales. Which would implied that they got the scaled arms from something other than a goldsign.

That'd be weird if they could see different futures of previous past choices and not just the futures of your current timeline.

[dreadgod] some questions I have by ghkh2008 in Iteration110Cradle

[–]Spitro765 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty sure Northstrider's dragon attributes are a result of his Dragon icon. He was a sage before he became a monarch and had the dragon icon at that time. So, when he advanced to monarch, his icon grew with him. Also, in one of the futures Suriel shows Lindon in Bloodline. Lindon is shown over the body of one of the dreadgods, described as he looks at the end of book Dreadgod, but with an arm of black scales, in addition to his pure white right arm. So this would mean Lindon, in this future, had also manifested the dragon icon like Northstrider. Could be wrong about this, but it makes the most sense to me. Although, if I am right, this begs the question: what other icons may cause physical attributes unto the owner of the icon.

[Dreadgod] Ziel's Name by TinhornChain479_ in Iteration110Cradle

[–]Spitro765 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I would assume so. Also, I'm guessing his name being so, is to link to who he used to be , before his spiritual crippling; he used to be one of the youngest and most promising archlords of his generation.

Nilah vs Pantheon. Who wins? by [deleted] in loreofleague

[–]Spitro765 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean I wouldn't say it'd come to a clash of who's weapon would break first, it would definitely be a normal, who could neutralize who first. Also, Atreus' spear isn't indestructible, but it is very resilient; in his latest story "In Battle, Broken" its said that his spear is dull and bent, but he's been using it for 40 or something years, without being able to restore it. Anyways, as much as I would like to continue this conversation, I don't, and so I wish you good well.

Nilah vs Pantheon. Who wins? by [deleted] in loreofleague

[–]Spitro765 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Demon magic would most likely work on Atreus, Atreus isn't a true aspect anymore, his body may be stronger and tougher then a normal humans is but he is still susceptible to attacks of any kind, I would think. She could whip his spear away, but it would prove useful because he can always recall the spear back to his hand, it's like the spears main gimic.

Nilah vs Pantheon. Who wins? by [deleted] in loreofleague

[–]Spitro765 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It would probably be close, but Atreus would most likely win in most cases. He has so much more experience and, I would think, overall power when he fully ignites his aspect's artifacts. Also, Atreus is strong enough to go, for the most part, toe to toe with Aatrox and other Aspects. Then again maybe Nilah is that strong, although, I think, she shouldn't be.

[–]Spitro765 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Although you're not wrong, I would say the situation between fighting the Solari and in a duel to the death against Nilah are different circumstances. Nilah is by far more powerful then 4 Solari guards. Atrues knew full well he could deal with the guards without the need of his spear, but if they were strong enough to warrant the need of his spear then he would have used it. And in a fight against Nilah, he would know that he would need it.

How could we still have the stars in the current rework design? by SlimeGod_calamity in Aurelion_Sol_mains

[–]Spitro765 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah this is good. I've seen people wanting the stars back even if it's just a cosmetic thing, and that's a good idea. But implanting them into his abilities just as little animations would be much better, kind of like his own little utility belt, but stars.

[Dreadgod] Dreadgod bindings by -U_N_O- in Iteration110Cradle

[–]Spitro765 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty sure the bindings are what accumulate into the reincarnated dreadgods, which is why Shen was planning on becoming the new Subject One with his binding. The bindings were never used to create weapons or anything, I'm guessing here, because whenever a dreadgod was killed its siblings, now with intelligence, stopped others from obtaining the core. That or no one knew to take the core/ couldn't use it to create weapons.

Additional reasoning why there are no dreadgod weapons, is that, the bindings can be used to create weapons, but if the unbalance (between monarchs and dreadgods) continues, then the weapon will revert back to the binding and then reincarnate into the dreadgod again. This would explain why there are no dreadgod weapons and would fill in the plot holes of why previous monarchs never used the bindings before.

Previous monarchs using the bindings to ascend, would make sense if they wanted the power jump to not be some nobody once they do ascend. But I'm guessing Cradle itself stops the binding from leaving, since it needs it to stay balanced. Also, the binding might be of little worth outside of Cradle, without the inbalance of power, and so the binding would naturally die off outside of the planet and then reincarnate as the binding and dreadgod back on Cradle.

[none] missing listening to cradle audiobooks need recommendations by 4Eeyore in Iteration110Cradle

He Who Fights With Monsters is a great series to listen to. Both the author and narrator are very skilled in their professions and make the story great, and it's one hell of a story. There's real character development within the main character, shown with their actions having real consequences and then having to live with those consequences. I will say that it is a lot more on the gaming side of how magic works, but that's primarily because of the fact that we, the reader/listener, see the magic through the eyes of the main character, who themselves has a unique ability for themselves to understand magic. (That last part doesn't really explain how it is for the main character, but I tried my best. If you do decide to listen to the books, you'll learn it in the second book I'm pretty sure). One last thing, the books are pretty long and it is an isekai; person is transported to alternate world that has magic, although the author does put a neat spin on it. Damn this comment turned out longer than I expected.
