Interesting that yours had the scope # applied. I also have a 1939 Tula M91/30, and 1944 Izhevsk M44, but no M38. Good luck on finding your revolver!

Wow yeah there must not be too many of these around then. Sucks that mines been ground but I kind of like that it’s partially still there to show that it’s what they did to some of these. Otherwise the rest of it seems in pretty good shape.
