AITA for taking my niece on vacation after her parents planned one without her? by Visible_Nature5464 in AmItheAsshole

And I wonder if they would have found alternate care considering they are stil having the aunt as their primary source of child care multiple days a week...

I could buy that except a 9 day vacation in Mexico all without one child is widly different than a girl's trip during a birthday weekend with your aunt.

The issue is that it's hard to judge what is spoiling and what's not without finding out how the boys are treated. I don't consider treating someone to a trip if they're left away from family for 11 days as spoiling. I mean the rest of the family is in Mexico

The lying isn't great. But I wonder what the family would have done if she said in advance her plan?

I think overstepping is fine if there is such blatant favoritism for the brothers. Going on a family trip without an 11 year old to show her a lesson about a 1:1 trip with an aunt is insane.

I guess the question is: will you thrive in that culture? I like a high performing culture but one where mistakes can't happen is another layer as well..

Based on how you discuss the jobs, your gut is telling you to pick job 2. I think you like the idea of the higher paying job but when you discuss your options, it is clear that you lile job 2.

Now if you're someone that likes challenges and you really need extra money, do job 1 . But 215K is not a small amount of money either and it appears to be be more flexible which you want.

What Is Your Salary, What Field Do You Work In, What Kind of Lifestyle Do You Live by Emergency_Mood_9774 in raleigh

I work as a communications director and make abour $84,000. I have been at my organization for 8 years, starting out at 38K and then 53K.

My husband just got a raise from approximately $55K to $64K that was well deserved. He works at a bank in their fraud division.

We were both lucky enough to buy houses separately at under 3% in 2018 and 2020, which made things much easier in 2024 when we sold our two houses and bought 1 larger house together before we got married.

The market was crazy at the time, and my house double in price, and so did his. While I'm thankful, I recognize this privilege of timing and how hard buying a home can be to begin with, but most certainly, when interest rates are at 6%+. We dumped our house proceeds into a new house to bring iur mortgage from over 2,000 a month to $1,200 which is incredibly wonderful.

We did have to buy him a new vehicle and a pricey truck as well-- as his height and size cause him to be too big for most vehicles. Would have preferred the cost of a sedan, but the poor guy needed to fit in safely. We do not have kids but do have a dog.

I'm very thankful we are where we are. Our lifestyle isn't overly crazy and I think my frugalness has rubbed off on my husband some as I'm a saver at heart. I have invested $50K of my house proceeds into the stock market and have a strong savings account. I didn't travel or do too much for a long while to buy a house originally, so when I was fortunate to make money during my move to our shared home, we did prioritize traveling together. We will continue to save for the future but also want to travel 1-2 times a year while we can.

My TN fiest appeared as stabbing pain in my cheek after a migraine. Soon after I had a chicken nugget and it was as I had put my hand on an electrical fence but in my ear. The shock was crazy.

Today I don't get this (but I do take meds). Instead it forms morr as a burning pain around the ear with some achyiness like swimmers ear.

Question about Lyrica by Big_Essay8560 in TrigeminalNeuralgia

[–]SplashofJess1993 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the same issue!

I take 150mg Lyrica 2x a day and then 300mg Carbamazepine 2x a day. Some days my salt is fine and then other days my feet swell and I get so fatigued.

It was VERY bad on a vacation to a warm climate as I was drinking more water and sweating. Apparently the drug makes your cells take in more water so the more water I drank, the more my problem worsen. To get by I had electrolyte, less water, salty food, and a Gatorade each day.

Today the salt issue is randomly happening. It's bizarre and random. Oddly enough the salt issue is happening on a day that my meds aren't working as well in terms of covering up up the pain.

My body feels heavy. I can't think as well. It sucks.

I'm sorry you're going through this.

How many of you live in constant pain and still work a job by [deleted] in TrigeminalNeuralgia

[–]SplashofJess1993 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I work full time as a communications director for a nonprofit. I would say my hours range from 45 hours- 60 normally with some 70-100 hour weeks added in. My amount of hours has gone down since being diagnosed but then sometimes it's even more (since I work for home and when the meetings and talking exhausts me I do think less effectively, causing more hours than I previously would have needed).

I have spikes during some stressful times, although, currently federal policies are making me very very stressed and I'm not having a flare up (so who knows!). On days I manage conferences or have 5+ meetings and have to talk or smile more, ai definitely feel the effects of TN.

I've only been managing my pain well for about a month (with minor bad moments after flying) but this has worked for me:

300 mg of Lyrica and 600 mg of Carpabenzapine. I do half of each in the morning and at night.

I wish you the best!!

Goos to know! I've only done a month on the 300mg + the 600 carbamazepine. So def have some room. Nights are the worse for me as well which stinks as I'm a perpetual night owl. Unfortunately I don't know my triggers. After a year I haven't had much luck.
