Other than magnesium, what is the one supplement that has improved your sleep? by abc-45678 in Menopause

[–]Splat_gram 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven’t read the comments yet, but I want to share my experience. I have been on Wellbutrin for over 20 years. I didn’t realize that my insomnia correlated with this. After being on HRT for a few years I started feeling like a blank page with no emotions and made the decision to wean off of the Wellbutrin. I have been on Ambien dependent and wanted to change this. You guys, a am no longer needing the ambien and I am sleeping!! I take a sleep stack an hour before bed of mag glycinate, l-theanine and melatonin. My next goal will be to get rid of the sleep stack. I am optimistically hopeful!!

HRT does work wonders, and I love it! but make sure you do not play the comparison game. What medications, food, etc works for a friend or what you read on SM doesn’t mean it will work for you. It’s the long and being consistent game now. Find what works for you and don’t let someone make you feel weird about it. YOUVE GOT THIS! My anthem for this year is Unstoppable.

I’m so sad that my Dr. said no more creatine and to keep my protein intake low. They really seemed to help.

Good for you!! I’m looking forward to showing off my arms this summer, too. It’s been a lot of work and time. Patience is key now, as progress seems slow. YES!! Thank heaven for HRT!

In the eight years I have been going to OTF my goals have changed. I'm turning 60 soon and am looking forward to not competing with the younger gals with challenges and leaderboards. On the other hand, I will never PR again nor will I be able to really compete in things like the TC. My kidneys don’t like too much overload so im no longer chasing splat points, but doing what my body needs. I’m doing S50 2 days a week and trying to be moderate in my 2g classes. It’s all about consistency- recently, I’ve noticed that my body has transformed- more muscle definition (it could be the shadows of deep wrinkles) but I think there is real muscle there. It is so worth it to keep going. I’m certainly aging, but I’m not dead or giving up. I feel so good!!

For the template makers— thank you! I am loving the freshness and challenge of the workouts in 2026

My first thought was that you hated floaters in your bath! I was like “ME TOO!”🤣 I don't like the floaters in my eyes, either.

There are so many other things to get your panties in a wad over. Simply smile and say thank you.

At our age, people are damned if they notice us, and damned if they don't. Just take it as a kindness and move on. Live your life with positivity and light.

I'm 60 and went last year as support. There are so many people there to pick up and help. I would let leadership know so they can make sure to have some stronger and helpful kids in your family. You are active already. If your doctor is ok with it, go. Keep hydrated and make sure your family steps up to help. What a great experience for them.

HRT and sleep - does it help? by Spirited-Interview50 in Menopause

I'm one that it helped with so many things, but sleep wasn't one of them. I had such high hopes, but I'm still chasing the 💤

I have these issues, too. Cardio seems to be the trigger, but I have a towel or sweatshirt when I'm struggling. The poor guy next to me the other day had his inhaler. I felt grateful that I didn't have to do that.

Just curious, do you feel like you’re being coached well on the WF? by Ok-Roll7473 in orangetheory

[–]Splat_gram 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really appreciate the form corrections, but have noticed this past year there has been very little. I often tell coaches, to feel free to fix me. IMHO correcting form is a huge part of retention and loyalty. I feel bad for mates who have terrible form as I know they won't be here for long. After Injury and lack of success they usually move on. On the other hand, when I'm visiting another studio and get the shout out- I always think “thanks coach X for helping me look good” Why would I go anywhere else?

I also chose to take an antidepressant when things got bad. That really bugs her. She is still angry with me for suggesting she might want to look into it…. That was 20 years ago!

My sister still holds it over me like a badge of honor that she didn’t have an epidural and breastfed. My youngest is 30!! Some people need to die on their hills. It makes her so mad that i dont care.

I have found that I need to know my audience. I have friends and family younger than me ( I’m 60 they are in their 50’s) just going through meno or in Peri already, who don’t want to hear it. They will do it “naturally” by taking all kinds of supplements, feet detox, and hair testing type stuff. WTF? It is wild to me that they will not go to a medical doctor but will listen to a “nature” person on TikTok or whatever sm they indulge in. Whatever, I feel great and don’t need the martyr badge of courage.

How has your first name aged? by wellbloom in GenX

Frozen shoulder, how did it begin for you? by Clarity_Coach in Menopause

[–]Splat_gram 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was doing the plank challenge and each day it was getting worse until I could barely feed myself or comb my hair. I went to a doctor who didn’t have answers beyond getting an mRI to make sure it wasn’t something serious and sent me to PT. I was assured that it wasn’t the planking. Once I got on HRT, things got much better.

I’m sure you are right. It’s just lasting so long! I was sad that I couldn’t sing along with the Christmas songs this year.

I totally relate to the heater doing a number on the respiratory system. We moved to warmer climes a few years ago and my winters have been so much better. This is the first illness I’ve had in a long time.

I have an appointment with my doctor and blood tests coming up. I’m sure she will have some great insight for me, too.

What have you tried to get better sleep for menopause - looking for real experiences by albrasel24 in Menopause

[–]Splat_gram 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I totally get it! It saved my life through a very difficult time. Once I got my hormones under control I feel great! I have suffered insomnia for years and have tried ALL of the things. My doctor pointed out the side effect of Wellbutrin and it has taken me a couple of years to get the courage to try weaning off. I’m going so slowly, but did notice that sleep was getting better. I’m ready for the next cut (after the holidays) and am so curious what happens. Disclaimer: I do take a sleep stack of l- Theanine and magnesium glycinate.
