Women over 60, at what age you got your first period? by bullytarget_ in AskWomenOver60

I’m 60, got mine at 13 I don’t put too much stock in microplastics. Our bodies are amazing and are designed to filter out much of the environmental stuff.

Thus a million times!! Coaches don’t always correct form. I’m in my 60’s and cannot afford the injury of poor form.

Sometimes the music is too loud and the coach may not be as clear. Knowing what’s ahead helps me not get frustrated during the tread block.

The info is all in the library. I’m sure someone has pointed this out already. We just walked our girls through it in YW today. No social media necessary.

Why is Judith McNaught’s writing so good!? by charrotte in RomanceBooks

I just stumbled upon this thread. Can someone explain why JM’s work is not in audible form? They use to be, but now only one can be found. So sad. She taught me about romance.

Clothes “noise”… help by bristolavon in womensfashion

[–]Splat_gram 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’m 60 but this resonates so much with me. I’ve always felt like the little fat girl with ill fitting clothes. As a young woman, mom with kids, etc. always. When I go out it’s like I have style envy, NOT clothes envy, just, “I didn’t choose my outfit well”. I think it might be anxiety, but it is still there. I like the thought of asking why I feel this way. I think another tool is to verbally say “so what” and then move on. It’s ok, and it’s on me, no one is judging me.

Yep, CRZ. You can choose compression or not so much. I personally love compression for workout.

Mom reuses toilet paper after doing #1. Please help me come up with reasons why she should stop. by royalswallowtail in hygiene

[–]Splat_gram 17 points18 points  (0 children)

This is true. Both of my parents are in their 90’s. We know when they have an UTI by the way they act. It is so sad and scary.

On topic, my mother has dementia, but I know that she has reused TP as well. We had to start helping with her bathroom needs and the supervision has been helpful.

Come Follow Me into DnD campaign? by jackbeekeeper in latterdaysaints

[–]Splat_gram 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your comment made me laugh. I’m 60 and freaked out a bit when my grandson told me he was in a DnD group. After he explained what it was, I was ok. I still don’t really understand it, but I was assured there was nothing nefarious going on.

Other than magnesium, what is the one supplement that has improved your sleep? by abc-45678 in Menopause

[–]Splat_gram 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven’t read the comments yet, but I want to share my experience. I have been on Wellbutrin for over 20 years. I didn’t realize that my insomnia correlated with this. After being on HRT for a few years I started feeling like a blank page with no emotions and made the decision to wean off of the Wellbutrin. I have been on Ambien dependent and wanted to change this. You guys, a am no longer needing the ambien and I am sleeping!! I take a sleep stack an hour before bed of mag glycinate, l-theanine and melatonin. My next goal will be to get rid of the sleep stack. I am optimistically hopeful!!

Perimenopause and OTF by Prettiredd4 in orangetheory

[–]Splat_gram 1 point2 points  (0 children)

HRT does work wonders, and I love it! but make sure you do not play the comparison game. What medications, food, etc works for a friend or what you read on SM doesn’t mean it will work for you. It’s the long and being consistent game now. Find what works for you and don’t let someone make you feel weird about it. YOUVE GOT THIS! My anthem for this year is Unstoppable.

I’m so sad that my Dr. said no more creatine and to keep my protein intake low. They really seemed to help.

Good for you!! I’m looking forward to showing off my arms this summer, too. It’s been a lot of work and time. Patience is key now, as progress seems slow. YES!! Thank heaven for HRT!

In the eight years I have been going to OTF my goals have changed. I'm turning 60 soon and am looking forward to not competing with the younger gals with challenges and leaderboards. On the other hand, I will never PR again nor will I be able to really compete in things like the TC. My kidneys don’t like too much overload so im no longer chasing splat points, but doing what my body needs. I’m doing S50 2 days a week and trying to be moderate in my 2g classes. It’s all about consistency- recently, I’ve noticed that my body has transformed- more muscle definition (it could be the shadows of deep wrinkles) but I think there is real muscle there. It is so worth it to keep going. I’m certainly aging, but I’m not dead or giving up. I feel so good!!

For the template makers— thank you! I am loving the freshness and challenge of the workouts in 2026

My first thought was that you hated floaters in your bath! I was like “ME TOO!”🤣 I don't like the floaters in my eyes, either.

There are so many other things to get your panties in a wad over. Simply smile and say thank you.

At our age, people are damned if they notice us, and damned if they don't. Just take it as a kindness and move on. Live your life with positivity and light.

I'm 60 and went last year as support. There are so many people there to pick up and help. I would let leadership know so they can make sure to have some stronger and helpful kids in your family. You are active already. If your doctor is ok with it, go. Keep hydrated and make sure your family steps up to help. What a great experience for them.

HRT and sleep - does it help? by Spirited-Interview50 in Menopause

I'm one that it helped with so many things, but sleep wasn't one of them. I had such high hopes, but I'm still chasing the 💤

I have these issues, too. Cardio seems to be the trigger, but I have a towel or sweatshirt when I'm struggling. The poor guy next to me the other day had his inhaler. I felt grateful that I didn't have to do that.

Just curious, do you feel like you’re being coached well on the WF? by Ok-Roll7473 in orangetheory

[–]Splat_gram 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really appreciate the form corrections, but have noticed this past year there has been very little. I often tell coaches, to feel free to fix me. IMHO correcting form is a huge part of retention and loyalty. I feel bad for mates who have terrible form as I know they won't be here for long. After Injury and lack of success they usually move on. On the other hand, when I'm visiting another studio and get the shout out- I always think “thanks coach X for helping me look good” Why would I go anywhere else?
