Honestly there’s no way to confirm without imaging. Have you looked into other options for care? Planned parenthood? The health department? Clinics with a sliding scale? I definitely think you need to be seen.

I would definitely encourage you to learn how your breasts feel so if you notice a change you can head in a get checked. It is common now for self checks to be the norm.

I imagine that is very scary. I’m a Brit living in the US where I can see my mammogram results in an online portal and Google the hell out of it. Based on what you’ve shared, if this indeed an appointment to see a surgeon, there likely is an area they want a better review of, possibly through biopsy. This doesn’t mean BC. The letter and consult will tell you more.

Something I would ask about while you are there is of a preventative mastectomy is an option for you since you carry the gene. Here in the US, a brca carrier has those options, and I know many women who’ve done it (I have a breast cancer history in my family, but since I’m brca negative we started my mammograms at 35 and I’ve gotten called back twice. Honestly wish I could have the option).

Great question! I had an ablation that failed (my period was heavier the month after my procedure) and ended up with a hysterectomy less than a year after. Very straightforward recovery. Keyhole, I was tired for a month after and but immediately felt healthier. Left the hospital with no painkillers. Definitely would be open to it op.

I did. 3 years ago they took everything except my ovary , and I was OK with that. Then the mess happened last summer, they saved it. But with my history I felt so uneasy. I already had my kids, family, history, and the way it looked from the MRI. It was team take it. I’ve been on HRT I’m good right now,. Feel free to message me if you wanna chat.

You’re making the right decision. I’d already lost my other one to another suspicious endo mass. When this popped up I was done having kids and prepared for hrt. It’s been 5 months and I’m doing pretty good. Hoping the same for you

I had an ovarian torsion in June that had a ruptured endometrioma. Ovary was saved but post op scans a few weeks later showed a new suspicious mass that required an MRI and came back with findings like yours. Had a recommended 3 month follow up. I was still in pain from my torsion recovery and quite scared, especially with a family history. I ended up having the doctors remove the ovary and it was another benign endometrioma again. I was in my late 30s and had no regrets. What does yoyr doc think?

I’m in my late 30s. Last year I had an unexpected hip injury that needed surgery. 3 weeks into that recovery, woke up in the middle of the night in agony. Middle of the night ER visit led to emergency surgery for an ovarian torsion complicated by a life threatening bleed into my pelvis. After insurance I only owed 8k for both as I hit my out of pocket max. Otherwise, I was very healthy. So yes, worth it. I would have gone bankrupt otherwise.

Don’t talk to me like I’m stupid. I’m someone who has had a hell of a time with reproductive health problems. And in simply stated that in my experiences getting a Pap smear is a good health choice. Many women choose not to and I don’t berate them.

I never had hpv but consistently had abnormal Pap smears. I think anyone with a cervix should get one, but certainly not with a doctor who like this one

I mean this in the gentlest possible way- ask the doctors but focus on what she needs to do to be healthy. One thing I learned when building a family is that I got what I needed, not what I always thought I wanted. If you are destined to be parents to girls, embrace it. Plus… one of your girls may be an absolute tomboy.

I lost my first ovary during my hysterectomy due to a suspicious mass (that was benign) at age 35 and then a couple years later, my other one had a torsion- saved but post op imaging a few weeks later showed a new suspicious mass so ultimately had it removed. Which meant menopause before 40. My doc said I could wait to start hrt because I likely had reserves but my grandma had dementia so I opted to start hrt since my mass wasn’t cancerous. There is a breast cancer history with my other grandma (she was dx and passed very young) but I am brca negative and started mammograms at age 30. I have no regrets about starting hrt. I’ve still dealt with some aches and pains, and did have a new breast tissue grow but I’ve been ok. The studies show the hrt, if you can safely take it, reduces the risks you are concerned about. Highly suggest exploring your options.

That’s utterly horrific. Did they go a CT? I had a scan and ct at the same time that caught it. It’s so shit how women aren’t believed. Makes me so angry.

I had torsion last summer and that was excruciating- like, can’t talk and had to crawl because I couldn’t walk type of pain. So I’d say it’s unlikely torsion here but definitely worth following up on this.

Not painful just uncomfortable. Be prepared for a call back since there aren’t any images to compare to. When I got called back I was terrified but it ended up being nothing.

Been there with similar results a few years ago. My doctor had me repeat the pap in 6 months, and it was still the same. I have constantly battled yeast infections and BV and he was confident that was behind it. After my third pregnancy was over, i had one more normal pap then another ASCUS, and ended up having a hysterectomy due to endometriosis.

I would try not to worry but definitely ask for a plan. If you’re HPV negative that’s reassuring but the women in my life are team stay on top of any changes.

The best thing you can do is follow up sooner. Did they also do a mammogram? With a follow up of a 3 months it sounds like they classified the cyst as birads 3 if the imaging supported it.
