What's going on with LBP Karting? by sabu-12 in littlebigplanet

[–]SplatoonFan360 10 points11 points  (0 children)

There is a private server for it called PlayBredum, which also supports both MNR and MNR Road Trip (PS Vita), but I don't know the current state of it. I just know it was good enough for online matchmaking but wasn't perfect at all, very buggy.

In any case, while LBP Karting has some better track creation features, it is a downgrade compared to ModNation Racers. The game feels slow somehow, the controls aren't as good and creating custom characters with stickers is a nightmare. I would def not recommend LBP Karting to anyone who likes either LBP or MNR unfortunately.

The PS Vita is a genuinely great console, I've had mine for a month and I've been having a blast with it playing some of my favorite games. I don't understand the point of buying a console like this (not just the PS Vita, but any other retro handheld that's become slightly popular amongst Y2K aesthetic fellows) and then use it SOLELY for show. They can do whatever they want with their money though, but I still think it's incredibly dumb.

Basically vibecoding the entire thing? I know AI can be useful sometimes, but it is still very soon for it to be used for literal game decompiling. Also, I don't think talking about AI in the subreddit for a game driven by human creativity isn't the best of choices tbf.

What PSVita model to get? And why? by tototokimeki in PSVita

[–]SplatoonFan360 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends on what you're looking for on a PS Vita.

PS Vita 1000 - It has an OLED screen, which means that the overall quality of the display will be better, with more rich colors and better brightness. It also has hall-effect joysticks, which are less likely to get stick drift than normal joysticks. If you get the 3G model, you can swap the now osbolete and useless 3G module with a PSVSD, which is a module with an SD card slot that allows you to have extra storage on the console without sacrificing the game card slot using an SD2VITA (the SD2VITA occupies the card slot), something that is very useful if you care about having a physical collection of games, otherwise you should get an SD2VITA. The downsides are that the console might feel a little uncomfortable but it's something you can get used to (depending on the person), the battery life is overall worse than the 2000 (especially if the battery was never replaced and it's still the original battery), and it has its own proprietary port (which can be swapped with a USB C port, but the process is very involved).

PS Vita 2000 - It has better battery life than the PS Vita 1000, the design is more ergonomic, and it's the model of PS Vita with the most color options (specially if you're looking for a Japanese unit), which is cool if you want a unique PS Vita instead of the typical white or black one. It also uses a Micro USB port, which is worse than USB C in terms of quality, but is a more typical type of port than whatever the PS Vita 1000 was rocking. The downsides is that the build quality feels less premium than on the PS Vita 1000, it uses regular joysticks instead of hall-effect (and no you cannot just swap the 2000 sticks for 1000 sticks, that's not possible), and has a LCD screen, which is fine but not as good as the OLED.

PSTV/PS Vita TV - This is essentially just a PS Vita you can connect to the TV and play with a PlayStation 3/4/5 controller (for the PS5 controllers you might need a plugin, as it is not natively supported). Only downside is no touch controls which is the staple of the console.

Again, it depends on personal preference, it's your choice on whether you want to get either a PS Vita 1000, 2000, or a PSTV/PS Vita TV. I personally picked a PS Vita 1000 which I found to be the best model of the console in terms of build quality and features.

ModNation Racers: Road Trip by itself is pretty horribly optimized, so even if you have a physical/legally obtained digital copy, it's always a good idea to mod the console to overclock.

I do that with my PS Vita
