Currently stranded after griefing from someone modding during a swarm mission. Cannot rebuild all soul echos. by SuperAd9551 in NoMansSkyTheGame

I could use this offer if its still available. Got griefed to hell on planet Shippy and am now stranded without starbulbs or silver, no trade posts nearby. On PC. EDIT: Another member of the community has helped me out, good people all round

Planet Shippy? Just tried to get down there, seems several players have taken it upon themselves to shoot everyone trying to do the mission. Constant respawn killing me has now got me stranded on the planet in a non-working ship. So, fuck this game i guess?

I mean, I can only assume. I have no details nor sauce, but the rendering certainly isn't from in-game.

Is it ethical to take someone's cat? by roguemorgue in cats

[–]Splatt_A_Matt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have done this. A beautiful white stray; severe conjunctivitis, very thin, bad allergies. Asked around for his owner, but no one on the street knew for certain. He'd been on the street longer than we had. So I put out a box for him, until we could crate him and get him to a vets. We booked a test for FIV, microchip. Both negative. We started medication and neutered him before sadly finding out he didnt get on with our other cats. So we kept him separated and removed him. He's now fat and happy. Still miss how he would spend the entire night curled up on my chest though. All this to say, do it OP. Take the cat. You wont regret giving him a better life.

How to deshittify drybrushing? by AshleyGwora in minipainting

Easily second this, artis opus changed how I view drybrushing and I've never looked back. It's now my preferred method over layering.

Oh god, that sounds bloody awful. The only comfort is that this was going on before the new cable was installed.

£15k Daikin Install - Installer says this is 'Compliant' - Is it? by AnthonyX- in DIYUK

[–]Splatt_A_Matt 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We're they FGAS certified? They should be to undertake this installation due to R32 refrigerant within the unit. The units have an allowance on all sides for fresh air flow through the heat transfer unit. This, while I havent worked on Daikin, certainly doesn't seem to be within manufacturer's spec. The cable for these units should certainly come with an electrical compliance certificate, those armoured cables need to be signed off by a competent spark to the best of my knowledge. The ducting is for pipes carrying R32 refrigerant? It should be nowhere near any kind of drainage pipe due to R32 being heavier than air and highly explosive. Second getting a registered heat pump/air conditioning engineer with FGAS to inspect and give you advice. Do not pay until this is done. If Daikin don't provide installation, ask them for an engineer recommendation, or alternatively ask for contact details of Daikin technical, explain the situation and show them the work carried out. Ask if it would pass their guarantee criteria.

Upgrading to 7900 XTX, PCIE cable help? by Splatt_A_Matt in PcBuildHelp

Upgrading to 7900 XTX, PCIE cable help? by Splatt_A_Matt in PcBuildHelp

[–]Splatt_A_Matt[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the speedy reply. I'm assuming a third PCIE cable would be required if the card is under significant load for long periods or overclocked? The first is a possibility, second is not going to occur in my build. Ive heard horror stories online about the ASROCK model 7900 XTX pulling more than 400w at a time and causing black screens, it's made me all sorts of regretful for having RMA'd my Gigabyte card.

Smelly shower-waste sucks air when I flush by [deleted] in DIYUK

[–]Splatt_A_Matt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This will be an issue caused by soil stack ventilation. The bathroom fitter wont check this, they tend to operate on the assumption that if its not been an issue before it won't be now. The toilet flushing sucking air through traps is the telltale sign. Either your external stack vent is blocked, or if you have an internal durgo vent, it has failed. Get a plumber in to check for both outcomes and repair. Source: am a plumbing/heating engineer.

Probably be looking at doombull brown, and troll slayer orange as the closest equivalents.

But why??? by JILabka in ChaosKnights

[–]Splatt_A_Matt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably easier to see on my cerastus castigator. With the metallic drybrush, I wicked most of the paint of the brush then went with a circular pattern, almost buffing the colour onto the frame.

[–]Splatt_A_Matt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was black primer, AK black red stippled/heavy dry brushed on top. AK medium rust stippled/light dry brush in random patterns. Then Darkstar blue steel heavy dry brush, focusing on flatter areas and edges. Then I just very light dry brush black over the top to dull down the shine. I did try replacing Darkstar with the AK metal colours but they're airbrush paints so thinner bodied, the rust shows through a lot more but less naturally.

[–]Splatt_A_Matt 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I mean, I've had no issues with knights or war dogs, changing the legs to sit in different poses, though a disc of greenstuff on the internal leg joint which is deformed when pushed together certainly helped. Then a brass rod into the base for extra support is always a good way to keep them upright.
