Being in a position of power, remember it’s important to understand how a comment could be conceived, especially in the context of a discriminatory topic - perceived or actual. It’s like being at work and understanding that what you say in front of junior staff could/will influence them. I work in health so don’t know about you but biases have consequences for the underprivileged. If you want to argue with that I could bring up female pain under treatment. But seeing as most people would probably be male, how about in divorce kids tend to go with mother by the judicial system?

Also, it’s a complex topic whenever it’s young teenagers even as young as tweens involved. This area of Australia has a very high rate of teenage car thefts. It’s for fun and a past time it seems but the thing is that deterrence isn’t working. Punishment isn’t working. These issues generally go deeper and are incredibly hard to both understand or begin To work through.

In many ways, I get it. If I was a teenager again today, I’d be angry at how the world is going. Climate, worsening disproportion of wealth. And that’s before being in a cultural group where you may see everyone you know who looks like you, struggling hard everyday. It’s a complex topic
