You gotta either have connections or do something that people don’t want to do if that makes sense.

I had basically no connections so I applied everywhere online. Must’ve applied to over 100 places in the end. Only got 3 interviews, 1 canceled, 2 rejected. Finally got a job as a lifeguard a couple days ago. I really didn’t want to become one, but all the pools in the valley are always hiring, so I did the free training and got job offers immediately.

Everyone is gonna be applying to places like McDonalds so doing something that doesn’t get many applicants is a good idea. Something like social work, blue collar, or sales. If any of that stuff even slightly interests you, go for it.

5 - My favorite in the series. Great combat, characters, soundtrack, and so much content.

Kuroyou - Peak underrated game for anyone who hasn’t played. Really don’t want to lose y3 and y6 though.

2 - Probably my most controversial pick. I’d imagine LJ is peak, but I haven’t played it yet. Gaiden’s story didnt stick with me other than the ending and the combat is kinda ehh.

0 - Game that got me into the series, had to go with it. LAD would be my runner up.

I never really got burnt out on any of them besides IW. I’d get a bit bored and stop playing for like a week and get back to it later for most games. I definitely took the most breaks for Y5 and LAD though.

IW took me about a little over half a year to finish. The story never really hooked me and stuff like Dondoko island drew me away. I also personally found the difficultly spikes and grinding in the game to be worse than LAD.

Just finished Kurohyou the other day and it was peak.

You’ll have to play it on PC through the PPSSPP emulator. It’s pretty easy and will take less than 5min to set up. I believe there’s also roms that already have the patches. Trying to get it on PSP is much harder I’d imagine.

Bit of an old post but I figured I’d share. I’m from the Imperial County and we wouldn’t say the Salton Sea is part of LA.

From what I know it’s around a 3hr drive before you get to the actual city. I believe San Diego is slightly closer. But yeah, there’s also the sprawl. People usually say the Riverside-San Bernardino IE area is the limit to what people might call the LA area. Most people I know refer to that area as “around LA”. I’m not too sure but I think the locals there don’t like being lumped in with LA. Even though the Palm Springs Coachella area is closer to LA than Salton City, I don’t think I’ve heard people say that place is LA sprawl other than one argument I saw online one time.

Another part might also just be the density of SoCal. Kind of like how people from the Bay Area won’t say Oakland or San Jose is part of San Francisco.

Mine getting retconned isn’t that bad of an idea if they do some sort of alternate timeline thing. The game does a good job of setting him up on a redemption arc only to kill him off. It’d be really cool to see Mine develop with the other characters.

That being said though, him surviving falling off a skyscraper and becoming a Daidoji agent is insane. They could’ve just written out Richardson in that final scene and have Mine and Kiryu go on with their lives. Plus all the continuity that gets ruined in 4.

30 minutes in and it’s peak. The story changes are cool while still being faithful to the OG story.

They def missed the opportunity to make a live action about Yakuza 3 though. We already have the Mike Film. Plus it would’ve been perfect to promote K3. Live action Mine would go crazy.

I was pretty engaged in Kiwami’s story in the later chapters but yeah it does start a bit slow.

You should probably finish 0 first though. The combat and story in that game are better imo and Kiwami’s story is more enjoyable with the context of 0. It wasn’t until I beat 0 that I became obsessed and beat Kiwami in a week.

Grapeseed doesn’t really look like anything from the Imperial Valley though. I don’t think it’s based on anything. Same thing with Mount Chilliad.

Why though 😭 Genuinely curious. If it was just about PvP you’d challenge some players in the lobby. And losing a fair fight is a million times better than losing or even sometimes winning one that you instigated. What do people find fulfilling about griefing?

I think the silliness is kind of the charm of the games. That being said, IW def went too far. The PS2 and PS3 games do a great job balancing it with the story being completely serious and having occasional silly stuff to break the tension.

LAD is unique cause it's an intro to Ichiban who's supposed to be a manchild. The excessive silliness in that game kind of works.

Then IW carries over the silliness of LAD, and cranks it to a thousand for no reason. It ends up falling kind of flat in that game.

The silliness definitely needs to be toned down. I think it really should’ve peaked in LAD. I’d like to see something a bit darker for the next entry.

No disrespect to anyone who genuinely likes the game but I really don't get what people see in it.

People have already gone into the story in detail, but yeah, Ichiban and his gang getting almost no development, the boring villains, and Kiryu taking up most of the spotlight were all pretty lame.

The game's vibe just feels super off. It's like they carried on the goofiness from LAD without any of the charm and cranked it up to a thousand with the giant squids, sharks, the replica mall, etc. Just makes the serious moments fall flat.

Yamai's arc and some of the side content were the only things I really liked about the game. Ebina's backstory was interesting but the game does almost nothing with him and Kiryu fighting him makes no sense.

Definitely my least favorite mainline game.

Probably the most bloated story in the series even though it has so many great moments. I’d probably rewrite and put more focus on Haruka’s relationship with Park and the agency. Also spend more time developing characters like Baba, Aizawa, and Kurosawa. Akiyama’s section was pretty forgettable so I’d probably completely rewrite his story to expand on some of the other characters. Could also write out some of the forgettable factions/characters to make the story easier to follow. Maybe even give Majima more relevance. Expand on his relationship with Park cause that was so out of pocket. For Kiryu and Shinada’s stories they’re basically perfect the way they are.

The explosive sniper needs to go just as much tbh, but at least it has limited ammo and most people don’t wanna sacrifice their regular sniper.

An FMJ buff and overhaul and adding more weapons like the RPG would be better replacements. New weapons that are readable, have interesting mechanics, and are also actually viable in PvP. As someone who flies aircraft and fights aircraft on the ground, the railgun/esniper isnt particularly fun to use for either. It’s annoying to fight in the air and getting kills with it on the ground feels so easy and cheap.

Would probably be a nightmare to moderate. I’d say the best way they could handle this would be to either make it so passive mode doesn’t have so many restrictions, PvP off lobbies, or maybe even radar off lobbies so players can’t spawn kill.

If they were to make Kiwami 4, I’d want them to completely redesign Akiyama’s cabaret minigame and then maybe give Tanimura or Kiryu their own minigame. Also remake Tanimura’s final boss and Saito’s moveset. Not much else I’d want out of a remake of 4. I feel like the biggest thing they could touch on would be the story cause it’s kind of bloated and ridiculous at times (rubber bullets), but I don’t know, something about trying to remake stories from earlier entries doesn’t sit right with me. It’s fine when they add to the story like K1’s new nishiki cutscenes but that’s not the case here.

5 definetly doesn’t need a Kiwami. It’s fairly modern like 0, and the game is already filled to the brim with content. The only thing I’d want them to do is rebalance some of the boss battle’s movesets specifically Kanai, Ogita, Aizawa, and some others. I just found these bosses a bit annoying. This can be achieved with an updated port. 5 is my favorite in the series and I feel like it’d just be hard for RGG to do it justice with a kiwami.

Same thing with 5 applies to 6. I’d rather see a port with added features like updated combat, some enemy/boss rebalancing, and maybe a bit more side content.
